Thanks to everyone for helping me sort my Ali cowl out. The rivets are in and the slots are cut and I must say it looks very good lol. The resin disks worked great to cut the slots but I didn't manage to set the rivets to my satisfaction so I epoxyed the cowl ring on , drilled the holes at the corre...

Thanks Steve. I have tried various methods as yet and nothings worked as I would have liked, however we press on.

It would be nice if we were all as good as you lol, still I'm pretty good at what I do even though its not metalwork,but perhaps even you wouldn't know where to start if you knew what it is that I do lol However if you or anyone did ask I would gladly help them and not deride them...

Well I,ve sent for 3 different types of metal cutting tools for my Dremel that's about 55 pieces in all !!
I will let all you good people know how things progress when I have the cutters. Thanks to you all.

Cutting an Ali cowl

Can anyone tell me the best way to cut slots in Ali cowls. Some people use coping saws but Although I have tried them I get no success. I need to cut 3 slots approx 3/4" wide and 6" long in the bottom of a 10" Ali radial cowl. Any ideas folks?

The later one which is now discontinued,has the fatter cylinder.

I live about 30 mins from Sarik as I too have used them for 25+ years.
I have rung them constantly from 9am today but it goes to ansaphone. Not good news for all people who have their plugs at traplet . If I get to know more I will let you know.
