Re: An Update on the UK Regulations for Model Flyers

What this means is that if the insurance company will wave the requirement to register then a mass boycott is on the cards !

Re: Setting up a twin

You can extend the ESC battery wires using capacitors, but that makes things more complicated than you want to look at ! I think I understand what you are asking, Opto isolatio...

Re: Setting up a twin

If both red wires are left in place then the voltage regulators in the esc's will fight against each other and get confused.
Do not extend the battery wires on the esc, extend the wires to the motor if needed.

Re: new registration rebellion

Would I be correct in guessing that the online test will only be on air law such as CAP numbers just in case someone has added a clause or comma during the previous year ?

Re: Which battery type

As for 2 or 3 cells, that depends on the prop size you want to use, 2 cells for bigger props, 3 cells for smaller ones. That might seem backwards as you may be thinking that you would use a bigger battery to swing a bigger prop, the reason for small battery - big prop is the current involved and to ...

Printed Circuit Boards

Please excuse the double post but putting it under "Electric Stuff" may have been the wrong place. I used to make my own by printing the artwork, transferring them onto the actual board with ultraviolet light and then etching them in ferric chloride. Now I use JLCPCB, yes they are in China...

I used to make my own by printing the artwork, transferring them onto the actual board with ultraviolet light and then etching them in ferric chloride. Now I use JLCPCB, yes they are in China and the shipping can take a while but they charge $2 for five 100mm x 100mm boards ! The last batch that I o...

Re: new registration rebellion

Maybe I am missing something, what is the actual use for registration other than for the government to show to show that they are "doing something" about quadcopter drones ? Can we expect knocks on the door by the police to ask if you were flying it at Gatwick :( What I do recall is at the...
