Re: Greenley wing balsa or foam?

Gary

Last time I spoke to Sid he could not make anymore wings due to problems getting the veneer so I made the built up Greenley wing, its a piece of cake to make and I am sure you wont have any problems. Have you downloaded the free plan from the Scale Soaring website?

Re: 1/2 scale Tiger Moth

I have to agree that on the video it sounded awfull, think Tony Collins recorder has a bug in the microphone  It did sound much better although it sounded a bit rough as John committed to flying. Dennis, I have recently fitted a Glens Models conversion to my Z62 and its easier to start than the...

Re: Building A Mosquito?

Phil The builder just likes to build light aircraft I suppose and being electric I believe there are only a limited amount of motors out there that would power a heavy version without serious amounts of money being involved. He has built several large electric aircraft around the 30 to 40lb weight a...

Re: Building A Mosquito?

Hi Phil The wood down here is much lighter than up north obviously  , quarter scale is correct, 13ft 4in in old money so should make for an imposing aircraft, cant wait to get my hands on it. The builder ( no names, no pack drill) has built several large electric aircraft and his design and bui...

Re: Building A Mosquito?

I do know of someone building a 1/4 scale Mozzy from his own design, ribs/formers etc are all cad designed and cut out and its designed for electric, still in the build stage but hoping to have it finished by Xmas. If it helps I can ask him and the wood cutter of any plans to kit it. I suspect the p...

Re: Z62 Cutting Out Problem

Allan/Dave Thanks for your answers, I dont suspect its getting hot as the problem occured during cooler weather and its a fully exposed engine that had been working faultlessly that hadnt been adjusted or fiddled with prior to the fault occuring. I will get a carb overhaul kit and try that, I want t...

Z62 Cutting Out Problem

I have an old Z62 which was secondhand when I got it around 20yrs ago. It was fitted to a Super Duper Greenley used for glider towing and on a tow with the engine flat out it would suddenly stop after around a minute and a half, back on the ground it would start ok but do the same next time round. W...

Re: Engine import from Hong Kong.

Tony I bought a 100cc twin from China and did pay some duty etc, only saved around £70. Then came the downer.......didnt run well which was traced to a faulty carb, the motor didnt come with a warranty as I bought it direct from the supplier and it cost me another £80 for a carb. So, after that it w...

Re: Giant Models at Public Shows

The reasons behind solo slots, I think, is straight forward to understand. One of the other points the original letter highlighted was the amount of slots some pilots get regardless of solo slots or flying with others. Now, if you take one aircraft you would probably expect to get two slots per day ...

Re: Is this a Discussion forum Or Sales website.

I think Rob has hit the nail on the head here, we are members of a very small association of around 1000 members I believe so obviously we are not going to get anywhere near the volume of threads etc that RCMF gets with its 7545 members. Also, I think that generally our members only say something if...

Re: You Couldn't Write It ------------!!

Nick Back in the 80's a similar event did occur at RAF Lakenheath involving a traffic police officer, handheld radar (not lazer detection ) and a USAF aircraft on approach. Not a myth but fact in this case, onboard detection equipment on the fullsize detected the handheld radar being pointed at it b...

Electric Concorde

Sunday 15th Nov 09 saw the successful test flight of Ivan Goodchilds latest electric creation, Concorde ! The model is perfect scale with the correct shaped wing/fuselage, full scale undercarraige, drooping nose etc and is powered by two electric ducted fans. I am sure Ivan can give the full electri...

Re: Aerotowing

Paul The longest towline we use is 40 metres long and this is on gliders around 7mtr span, more usual is around 30 to 35 mtr for models around the size you are towing. I normally use the orange builders line from B & Q but for I also use the builders line from Jewsons as its a bit lighter. Hope ...
