Progress on the MiG. Doesn't look much, but a lot of time expended masking/spraying the insignia.
Flightline Graphics masks help a little, of course!!

Re: MIG 15
Finally, progress and I've completed spraying of the finished colours.
Using the Scotchbrite pad, I've 'burnished' the finish to give a flatter texture which, to my eye, is more realistic than a high gloss one.
Now for the insignia using masks from Flightline Graphics...

Another option which I’ve used on several models is 0.8mm Finnish Birch Ply, e.g. my 1/4 Vampire. Not cheap, but it makes an immensely strong wing and acceptable weight, as it just needs to be covered with lightweight glasscloth and a minimum of resin.

Thanks, Gents.
Engine run and all systems checked-out yesterday.
Next project on the bench - more on this shortly.

PS Stick with it, Tony, if we give up, we’re doomed...

Re: DH Vampire
Repairs and reinstallation completed. The 'sit' with the shortened nose-leg & mountings moved upwards in the nose, looks much better now. Decided to check with DJ as to the CG position on his Sterner Vampire after he'd had a near thing and added nose-weight subsequently. My CG turned-out to be 3...

Re: DH Vampire
Sadly, a mishap with my beautiful Vampire earlier in the summer. First take-off from our grass strip it lifted off before it had flying speed, flicked one way, then the other and you know the rest. Cause: Noseleg too long. Solution: Peter's shortened the leg and I've lifted the mounting points in th...

Re: Sad News
So sorry to hear this news. Peter was a good friend, great modeller and a nicer chap you could not wish to meet. He was largely responsible for forging the links between the LMA and the SAA, a task he addressed with great enthusiasm and not a little humility. In the last few years, despite the ravag...

Re: Sad News
Sad news indeed, Neil. Gordon was a really smashing person, very able scratch builder and always very approachable if you needed help. For his very significant contribution to the LMA - maintained well into his 80's - he was conferred honorary membership, his enthusiastic participation only being cu...
