Re: Longer Power wires on Speed Cotrollers

Steve - I have designed many large scale electic models such as the A10 Concorde and Mossi all electric powered and all using 2 or 4 power trains. To balance all of these models which have wing spans of 3.5M plus and fus length of 2M plus I have positioned the motor batteries so as to balance the mo...

Re: Electric Concorde

This weekend we managed to complete most of the flight tests despite a couple of downpours. John was having fun at the controls and Steve Mitchell was taking some superb pics. I appreciate the Concorde is not the standard type of LMA model but for those who are interested here are the pics.

Re: Powerbox 'Royal' Spectrum in over 20kg models?

As many members will know I did the orginal technical appraisal of 2.4 systems for use in over 20kg models for the LMA. As a result of the position the committee has taken todate there have been no incidents where a model has not complied with the CAA guide lines "Upon the failure of any single...

Re: Electric Concorde

In 2008 the late Dick Whittington suggested I design the Concorde for electric power the same size as the Turbine version. There was very little data published on the full size, and the design of the turbine version was not true scale including the wing. There were also interesting reports on the fl...

Re: Large B-52 Bomber models

B52 - an delicate subject in the LMA. There are a number of these currently being built in the States with various power trains. Having designed large EDF models, the latest being the Concorde, may I suggest you carry out some basic design calculations first. With a wing span of 16ft the model will ...

Re: UPGRADING 35M MODELS TO 2.4

The TM7 and TM8 Futaba 2.4 modules fit the FF9 and both work fine with no aerial issues as mentioned in previous post. For those wanting 8 channels one can use the R608FS or R6014FS receivers. The FF9 has to be set to PPM mode which means you will only get 8 channels not the 9 in PCM mode, and the F...

Re: UPGRADING 35M MODELS TO 2.4

Sitting on the UKRCC for the LMA I do not get drawn into manufacturers although I do know them very well. Chris is correct that the Futaba 6014 is one of the receivers, it is an excellent receiver I have them in all my large models and 6M gliders and all work perfectly. One just has to be carefull w...

UPGRADING 35M MODELS TO 2.4

Several members have contacted me recently where they have encountered problems with servo operation when replacing their 35M receivers with 2.4 systems. Some of the latest receivers use a microprocessor chip set that outputs a data signal to the servos of 2.7V instead of the 3.0V that the older sys...
