Re: Sad News

Desperately sad to hear of Peter's passing, a true gent, always willing to offer advice and help whenever it was asked of him. My condolences go to Lynn and the family.

Re: An Update on the UK Regulations for Model Flyers

Thanks for the update Rob, common sense ignored, expert knowledge ignored and will it help catch the scrotes that are causing the havoc? Not a chance, they will never register. The will crawl out from under a rock, cause mayhem then crawl back, leaving the police to hassle known modellers!

Trying to contact Steve Carr

Does anyone know if Steve Carr is on the LMA forum? I have a Multiplex problem that has been driving me nuts and I was hoping he might be able to point me in the direction of a solution.

Thanks

Thanks Steve

Quite a difference! With the resistance being higher, I assume that less current will be drawn by the spark plug giving a weaker spark. Although it runs, would you advocate changing it for the R6F?

Re: Glitches! Possibly ignition interference

it is still a resistance plug thinking outside of the box could you mount the ignition unit on the engine side of the firewall Not as it is at the moment but I could extend the nose by fitting a box that I could mount the ignition on. I might allow me to shed some of the lead I'm using to balance i...

Re: Glitches! Possibly ignition interference

[quote="Steve McDonald"][quote="Tony Collins 1073"]Steve. Correct spark plug is BPMR6F plug. I have just checked the spark plug and it is a BPMR7A which differs from the one quoted above. Will this make a difference? Haven't measured the resistance as yet. I wish I had kept the o...

Bob,

Thanks for the reply, I'll check the plug lead but the Rx should be OK as it is well out of the way.

Re: Glitches! Possibly ignition interference

Steve. Correct spark plug is BPMR6F plug. Its internal resistance should be checked - 5000 ohms or could be a bit more. Meter reading between spark electrode and metal plug top. The screened lead should have good continuity with the plug cap. The receiver batteries and ignition batteries should be ...

Glitches! Possibly ignition interference

Went to test fly an aircraft yesterday but was getting radio glitches when engine was running. For CoG purposes I have the two Rx batteries, the ignition battery and the ignition unit just behind F1, along with at least a couple of pounds of lead. Could this be the cause or does anyone have any othe...

Sticky Wing Joiner

I have a ply wing joiner which must have swollen a bit in the shed. Need to sand it down a bit but wondered if there is anything I can "lubricate" the wood with to make it slide in and out easier?

Thanks in advance

VP Racing Batteries

Just wondered if anyone is using VP Racing Batteries? They seem well priced for those that are still using NiMHs. I'm needing to replace a few and there is a considerable cost saving if I choose the VP batteries but want something reliable. Do the usual mantras apply, "You get what you pay for!...

Re: Thor 45cc Engine problem

Stripped everything out and reconnected, charged up ignition battery, replaced spark plug then fuelled up. it started fine and after a couple of initial hiccups it will now transition to full throttle. Tried it a few times and it seems OK but did not run it for long to avoid annoying the neighbours!...

Re: Thor 45cc Engine problem

Tony,
The Thor engine timing is 12-14 degrees before Top Dead Centre, so there is quite a difference. I'll try everything else I can first then see if I can get a replacement sensor and try that, worst comes to worst I might then need to buy a new ignition.
Thanks again.
Cheers

Re: Thor 45cc Engine problem

Tony/Dave, Thanks for your replies. It's a new battery so "should" be OK but I will try another one. Was hoping not to have to buy another ignition module. It is still the original plug, will get a replacement NGK/Champion tomorrow. All leads in good order, bought the engine second hand an...
