Re: 2020 Renewals

A little point regarding the LMA self printable Membership card/slip. In view of the new regulations which require us to know or carry our Flyer numbers as well as attach our Operator number to our aircraft would it not be a good idea for LMA to make provision on their self printable membership card...

Re: 1/4 scale vintage wanted

Hi Toby.
I'm Rob Cavell I have my vintage 1/4 Scale Tiger Moth which I am reluctantly willing to let go to a good home.
It was well known on the LMA and Show circuits in the 80s & 90s.
It won the Shuttleworth Trophy at Old Warden and is Laser 150 powered.

Re: end of an old friend

Got to agree, Rob. A sudden decision, with no information backup. I foresee a number of incidents at shows this year, as pilots grapple with new technology with little info. I also forsee a shortage of pilots/models as those who have complicated setups on 35 decide not to change..... I must have my...

Re: end of an old friend

Sorry to bring a somewhat sour note to this decision to go 2.4 for all show aircraft but as a 2.4 man since day one of the revolution and long since now committed for all my electric models at least, am I the only one with a rueful smirk on my face about last year’s LMA BAN on 2.4 for show models? I...

Re: Postal Scam.

Andy is right this is a very old scam, the following cut and copy is from http://www.hoax-slayer.com with which I always check these urban myth style warnings. Put the address in your favourites, it can save a lot of unnecessary worry. Hoax slayer Analysis: This email warning has been circulated sin...

Pretty dramatic stuff eh..?
And why is it that the odd colour picture somehow looses the drama?

You can't denigh it, didn't those yanks do well for us all?

Re: Half scale model Bleriot channel attempt.

Thanks for that Dave,
I think I'd better eat my words about 'those over there always doing it'!
I hadn't realised that DB was involved, shame on me, how could he NOT have been involved in such a project?
And how so apt that it should now be remembered, at his passing and all..........

Re: Half scale model Bleriot channel attempt.

That's right the press have to be informed in the first place and we Bloobirds were only in on the attempt literally on the last few days prior. Personally I still don’t know how Henk found and organised the landing site which is about 1mile as the crow flies from our flying field, it might have bee...

Half scale model Bleriot channel attempt.

I can't find any reference to it on this forum so perhaps the recent channel crossing attempt has gone unnoticed by LMA members. One Henk van Hoorn a Dutch modeller and full size pilot on 13th July made a failed attempt and the model diched in the sea. Rather late in the procedure Henk contacted my ...

Re: Giant Models at Public Shows

There has been some interesting comments and suggestions on this thread which I hope LMA event organisers have read and inwardly digested, lest we be labelled elitist. However please do go back and read the letter of Terry Lee on page 48 Journal 130 again. Among his complaints is the suggestion that...

Re: cell phone ?

This thread is what one might call a 'bit old now' but having managed to haul it up again in my current drunken stupor, it has reminded my that one day when I visited my 97 year old mother who lived within spitting distance of the English Channel, referring to her new hearing aid she remarked "...

Re: Giant Models at Public Shows

Personally I was sympathetic to the letter of Terry Lee. His letter was about alleged preferential treatment in the allocation of flying slots, was it not? While having no way of knowing if his protest/complaint is valid I did take it at face value and in doing so assumed his model(s) are over 7kg. ...
