Re: New listing for Tx ignition units

Paypal never asked for a direct debit arrangement on my main current account, if the paypal funds were less than required it was made up from credit card details which I gave to them which meant I had some control over fraud issues. Ebay are insisting that I provide a current account otherwise they ...

New listing for Tx ignition units

After 5 years of selling hundreds of Tx controlled ignition switches and failsafe units from ebay I have cancelled all listings from the ebay site. The reason is that they have severed all connection with paypal and they require all of my bank details, something that paypal did not require, to conti...

Sad News

After a prolonged fight against a debilitating illness our old friend Les Eagle passed away yesterday. Many of you will have known him as flightline director at many of the shows in the southeast. Les was also a skilled display pilot of the old school, building many of his superb scale models from s...

Stuff you never thought you would use.

There are always bits of models pushed into cupboards and hidden behind more recent toys in your workshop and are usually forgotten.....but now due to this virus creating boredom I started tidying my workshop. I found things that I just couldn't throw away, a pair of Yak 18 wings and stabiliser, a r...

Re: Professional ignition switch from Tx for petrol engines

Pleased to hear that John, and your installation in the Albatros really put the units to task because of the existing wiring set up in the model. Can't get better extreme testing than that !

Professional ignition switch from Tx for petrol engines

Whilst you are sitting in your workshop looking at that model that you are not allowed to fly why not fit a very useful safety addition. Our remote ignition switch operated from a spare channel will allow you to stop your petrol engine after a flight instantly without having to wait for the low thro...

Re: CAA Operator I.D...what did we pay for

Still far short of the original estimate of 170,000 registrations expected. Typical of arbitrary numbers dreamt up by government departments, ie. cost of HS2, Cross rail, nuclear power stations etc etc.

Possible LMA fly-in at Manston SE Kent

In case any of our members don't look at the 'LMA events' site not expecting to see anything happening in the SE, I thought I would put a reminder on this General Discussion slot. Take a look at the Manston mention on the LMA events site because if all goes well it is a fantastic site to fly anythin...

Re: An Update on the UK Regulations for Model Flyers

Well, it's the end of November and there is a definite flurry of no information from the powers that be to tell the general public that they will be subject to unimaginable punishment if they don't register if they fly a plastic aeroplane bought from the toy shop!

Re: An Update on the UK Regulations for Model Flyers

There was a bit of news on Meridian TV talking about drone registration and it wasn't until the end of the report that they said "Oh it also includes model aeroplanes".......And that was it!

Re: Mobile phones on flight line

I operated TX control at many shows for many years a while ago when we were still using 35 Meg but with a few 'new fangled' 2.4 Tx on the flight line. In all of those years only came across one incident of a mobile phone wiping the memory from a Tx which was operating on 2.4, well it may have been t...

Re: An Update on the UK Regulations for Model Flyers

The bottom line to this nonsense shows up with the number of serious modellers,11000, who have responded to the cause. The DfT and CAA need £2mill+ to fund their registration department, this is why they came up with the purely arbitrary number of 170000 modellers who would pay the fee and this will...

Re: new registration rebellion

Well done Dave Stevens ( if you are our LMA Dave Stevens) on getting a letter published in this week's Flight International. I sent a letter to the magazine about 3 or 4 weeks ago with exactly the same content as yours. It seems to me that the powers that be do not have any idea regarding our hobby ...

Re: new registration rebellion

I just had a thought (which is unusual) and I may be being pernickety but somewhere in the paperwork about the new regs it was mentioned that everything that travels through the air is governed by the Air Nav Order even down to paper aeroplanes. Well what about regulating golf balls, cricket balls, ...

Re: Show helpers and pilots

I've been 'doing' shows for as far back as I care to remember and have always been worried about people wandering onto the live areas of shows. Any person who is not involved in the flying of a model should not be 'airside'. Family members with their picnics, dogs and young children in pushchairs etc...

Re: The Global “anti-drone” hysteria continues..

Interesting bit in BMFA News about exemptions for models. Most of it we know about but there is a chart showing airproxes to manned aircraft by unmanned craft. Most airproxes are under 3000 ft, and there are a lot of them but the amazing part of the report are the airproxes up to 14000 ft allegedly ...
