3W 70cc single Prop size / rpm??

Hi All, I have a 3W 70cc single (side exhaust / rear carb) The manual on the 3W site suggests props in the 23x8 to 24x10 range. On these props I am only getting 5700 rpm. I have checked the carb tuning and there are no more revs to be found there. It starts and runs well at idle, mid range and full ...

Re: 1/4 Scale 18' Handley Page Hampden

That's a real shame, The Hampden looked really good and I was looking forward to seeing a different shape in the air. Commiserations to all involved in getting it this far

Re: insurance

The house contents also cover the contents of my 'shed' but I had to do a lot of shopping around to find a policy that didn't have a low limit on shed contents. And the 'shed' is brick built with proper 5 lever lock and a working alarm system. If the models had been kept inside the house, insurance ...

Re: Very Sad News

This is very sad news to hear. I only met Harry at various LMA events, he was always welcoming, full of enthusiasm about his aeroplanes and happy to share his knowledge. He must have explained his litho methods to me several times before it began to sink in. Harry epitomised the spirit of the LMA an...

Re: Christmas Journal

I've had a run through on my copy. The centre spread photo is an absolute King both the quality of the subject and the quality of the photograph. Nice to see the build articles, always my favourite bits. I am looking forward to seeing the Wellesley come on. and finally I would have liked to know mor...

Richard,
Have a look in the 'member services' section of the journal. There is a guy in there offering machining skills. Might be worth a chat with him??

Re: Wanted - engine mod cost

Well, the beam mounts are there on the crankcase, so being a heathen, if twer mine I would attack the bell mount with a hacksaw and an angle grinder (Both precision tools in my workshop) and separate mount from back plate and Roberts your fathers brother. Probaby wont be pretty so make sure that the...

Re: wanted RC1804 AW Whitley plan

Thanks Richard, I know about that link, I was just enquiring if there was anyone out there with a set that they weren't likely to use. Although I now reside in North Lincs I spent many years living in Barnsley and the traits of Yorkshiremen run strong within me. Men with deep pockets and shorts arms...

wanted RC1804 AW Whitley plan

Hi All,

Does anyone have an unwanted copy of the above mentioned plan? Designer Alex Weiss, 74 inch from the RCM&E plans range.

If you are willing to part with it I'd be pleased to buy it from you.

Thanks,
Stu Knowles

Petrol Engine Repairs

Hi All, I recently bought a Zenoah 38 at a swapmeet. When I got it home and attempted a test run, it soon became apparent that in its past life, it had been involved in an altercation with the planet and the end on the prop stud was waving about like the arms of a drowning man. Remembering an ad in ...

Does it have the retractable wing floats? Are you planning to give it a go off the water Dave?
They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I have to say I've always though that this one has quite an elegant line - just a bit tubby ;-)

There must come a point when it will become a folly to try and fly it.

Amazing work though Phil, even though it belongs in a glass case

Re: pink foam

Do you need large sheets, for cutting wing core for example or smaller pieces? I can't help with full sheets but I do get large lumps of blue foam offcuts which I have been using as a Balsa block substitute for quite a while now, both in airframes and when making cowl plugs etc.
Any good to you?

If its not the same then a blind man riding past on a galloping horse wouldn't notice the difference.

I could bring it to the AGM if you are interested. Let me know if you want to try it.
cheers
