Airworld Gee Bee R3

Does anyone have - or know of an Airworld Gee Bee R3 that they might wish to sell ? Anything considered, possibly needing some repair work maybe ? Or, indeed an unstarted project ? Please get in touch if you would like to part with it . .

Long-shot wanted

I'm on the lookout for a Scalewings Lavochkin LA7 - maybe an unstarted project or moderate crash damage considered ? Also, would there be an Airworld Gee Bee R3 lurking in anyones workshop ? Very much a long-shot but here's hoping . . .

Re: Moki 215cc tuning or...?

Good Morning, Brian is correct regarding the oil content ratio, but It shouldn't really prevent it from running ? I would be checking the pulse pump flexible pipe to check that it is clear ? Other than that, I would be stripping the carb to see if there was any jellified oil/fuel remains within the ...

Very sad news

It's with very great sadness that I have to report the passing of my friend Bob Thompson. Bob has been battling with a serious illness over the last few months and unfortunately lost his fight over the weekend. Bob has been chairman to the Langar model aircraft club for many years and was always rea...

Moki 400 Radial

I have for sale a Moki 400 Radial which has only been run a handful of times from new. It is in 1st class condition and will come with an appropriate 2 bladed propellor for immediate use. Of course, I would like to sell outright but I would consider swaps and/or part ex, particularly for anyone wish...

RAF Chipmunk wanted

Hi, I'm on the lookout for a nice example of a Chipmunk to 1/4 scale, or thereabouts. I would prefer the bare airframe, with or without servos etc. I would consider other similar "flying site friendly" scale subjects ? Please let me know if you have a nice example to sell, or indeed, if yo...

Re: Wanted,Temperature operated cowl flaps

Lets hear some more about the actual gills and how they will operate ? It will be tricky to create the mechanism for reliable use thats not over complex. I know the fullsize F4U uses a cable that tightens to close against sprung open gills. . . this would result in a lot of moving parts within a str...

Re: Wanted,Temperature operated cowl flaps

I think it will be the cowl gill hinging kit and operating mechanism that will cost the money - not to mention the hours of model making to make it happen. A good project for its own sake though ? After all that work I think I would want an overide by-pass control to amaze my friends with because, u...

Re: Wanted,Temperature operated cowl flaps

I cant argue with your using whatever info one can get with modern radio gear John. I am exposing my luddite self here - not really moving with technology that is available to us these days . . . In my defence, I will say that when my aircraft is strafing past myself at a pace with the engine singin...

Re: Wanted,Temperature operated cowl flaps

My advice , especially where radial engines are used, is to concentrate efforts to control air coming into the cowl rather than worrying about gill flaps and the like . . . use ducting and baffles to control the cooling air over the cylinders. If you use automatic devices to open the gill flaps, cha...

Re: Tank Position

That is correct Frank . . the carb itself will regulate the fuel flow through the regulator valve. Having the tank a little higher will help with fuel draw from a cold start . . . cheers

Re: igyro 3e

Thanks all for your messages and calls. I have ended up doing something similar to your description Charlie. . . my main issue initially was that i had assigned channel five and labelled it with *gyro*. Doing this, I have since discovered, introduces a pre ordained mix arrangement that appears to be...

Re: igyro 3e

Thanks for the replies chaps . . . I will try the servo 1st steve, as you say, it will confirm basic settings etc. Frank, you are right about the fact I don’t know for sure whether the gain is adjusting or not. But it’s a bit vague should that be the case. I need to get a response to channel 5 on th...
