Saito FG60R3 NIB

A change of plan means that this fabulous engine is surplus to requirements. Brand new in box it has never been mounted or run, except by the factory. All the accessories are with it and it also has a brand new Keleo exhaust ring specifically for this engine, included. New price circa £1200+, so sav...

Re: Slingsby T21 Sedberge. 1/3

When I was a callow youth in the Air Cadets I spent a week on a soaring course in Someset, on hill site close to the Cheddar Gorge. I was ground crewing one hot sweaty day and I had taken off my shirt as I was so hot, when one of the instructors called to to jump in and get a flight in. I said I wou...

Re: Wanted,Temperature operated cowl flaps

Hi Guys, For those of you tempted to consder the Jeti route, here is a video from my good friend Harry Curzon showing how a servo controlled cowl flaps can be controlled using a temparature sensor inside the cowl, or on the cylinder head as you wish. Nothing else is required in the model. You will b...

Re: Wanted,Temperature operated cowl flaps

I have ordered a servo tester and will have a play with it, I have also ordered an Arduino as a backup plan. I suspect that the mention of Arduino witchcraft might sound horribly complicated, it's not but gives an easy way of setting the fully open and fully closed temperatures. With the simple ser...

Re: Wanted,Temperature operated cowl flaps

Glenn, You are absolutely right about ducting the air inside the cowl to ensure proper cooling. That is fundemantal. I have assumed that Stuart has already taken care of this step. But having telemtetry that at least tells you what is going on in the air, that is progress. You do not need to look at...

Re: Wanted,Temperature operated cowl flaps

Stuart, there is more to it than displaying telemetry on your screen. Of course you could do that and manually monitor temaperatures and adjust cowl flaps accordingly. However, to make this automatic you need, as Elliot eluded to, telemetry control. This is available on Jeti but I have no idea if it...

Re: Wanted Saito FG 84 or 90 radial

Stuart and Charlie, Thank you both for your input. I will be fitting a close fitting baffle. Mine is a later engine with strengthened cylinder casing at the base. I think I will run this engine in and install it and see how things go. Dave, sincere apologies for stealing your thread. I will go away ...

Re: Wanted Saito FG 84 or 90 radial

Hi Guys, Apologies for butting in on this thread since I am not hear to either buy or sell, nor to profer an opinion. I own an FG60, as yet unrun. I too had heard of problems and I have been advised to send it to a well known UK engine retailer, to have it "doctored". A club mate had one o...

Wanted - Saito FA90TS flat twin

No Longer made but would be perfect for a new project. This is the Boxer twin glow engine from Saito with the common rocker cover and slightly offset cylinders. Must be in New or very good condition. WHY?
Cash waiting.

Wren 160 Pro- Low Hours

The engine was flown in one model which has since been sold. The engine was kept, as it is such a lovely smooth starting and smooth running engine. However since no projects have come along for this engine, I have reluctantly decided to sell it. The engine is complete with a project hornet ECU, pump...

YT FW190 "big" Electric

This is a converted YT FW 190. It has a very powerful electric brushless outrunner motor, the Thumper C8085, which confers on it performance rather better than the original had (6KW!) . It has 26 LiFe Cells arranged in two rows in the cowl, wired in a 13 S 2P configuration, so 43V. It has a safety c...
