Re: HK Diablo EDF fan unit required

Hi Luke, You must be well under way by now, but as I finished one of these models recently you might like some info for comparison. I finished mine simply with fixed gear and a cheap 6 blade 90mm fan for 6S from HK. (about $40 fan+motor, not listed now) The unit is rated at 2.8 kg thrust, but I meas...

Re: 1/4 Scale 18' Handley Page Hampden

That's a real shame Tony.
Having seen it at Haydock I was looking forward to seeing it fly.
No chance that beefing up the mainspar would make it flyable?
What does Phil your inspector say?

Re: Big model wheels

Yes James, They are very expensive in the UK, £92 each from Amazon uk, much dearer than the US ($14.25 each) However Mick Reeves sells wheels that would do (1/3 Camel wheels look about right). The next problem is an axle. I am thinking 1/2" or 3/4" steel tube with a solid 3/8" steel a...

Big model wheels

Anyone know of a good source of spoked wheels (preferably with narrow inflatable tyres) about 9" or 10 inches in diameter??

Or, better still, is there a supplier who could make for me a steel tube axle (4 ft long) complete with a pair of such wheels?

Re: Amps or Air for 1/4 scale Wyvern ?

Watching models with retracts (air operated) and their constant problems put me off using them for years. When I eventually did I was amazed at how little it took to make them fail to operate. I have no experience of electric retracts. As regards the wing fold, I have just started to use mode switch...

Re: LMA Journal issue 142 (Spring)

Thanks Dave, looking forward to a good read this weekend as I've had to cancel my visit to Woodford due weather.
Just a pity I can't drive to Stornoway (in Lewis) for the weekend, the warmest place in Britain at the moment at 7 degrees, light winds and sunny. Fine for flying.

Re: So what have you been flying this weekend.

Sat 20th was lovely at Elvington.
Big Dave (Swarbrick) maidened his FEJ MiG 29 (2750mm long, 1900 mm span, 32 kg dry) powered by a pair of 170 N turbines.

Sunday was misty until clearing late afternoon.

aileron hinges needed

On a 30% warbird I need hinges for ailerons which are about 34 inches long and 4" chord. I want to make them Frise type, with the hinge line at about 25% of aileron chord, on the bottom surface. I would also like to make them removable from the wing. i.e. From below, they would screw onto hardp...
