Re: Hostetler 40% GeeBee Model Z

Absolutely stunning. A true craftsmans work.

Somehow I can't see you looking at a small imperfection and saying "Oh, that'll do, you won't see it in the air"!

Any news on the sea dart?

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Sound System

Mr RC Sound, no holes for speakers. It uses transducers fitted to the skin, making the plane one big speaker.

Re: 1/4 scale Fokker DVII Wanted

Martin, I am moving over to electric so - I have a 1/4 scale BUSA Dvii, done as Lothar-Siegfried Freiherr von Richthofen's red and yellow. Z38 with optical throttle cut, bungee sprung undercarrage, standard servo's throughout. had about 20 flights. Engine still needs running in a bit more, and needl...

Re: New to brushless

Thanks all, Better get building then! I'll update when Iv'e (a) learnt some more; (b) built and flown the plane; and (c) got the best combo. Although it would delay the Alb build, I think I may get something that I can fly as a test bed, (big, slow, and fairly cheap), without risking a full scale bu...

Re: New to brushless

Thanks all, Although the readings seemed ok, on 12s the 26x10 and 26x8 both sounded awful! souded like they were ripping the air. Big volt drop (39v on 12s) on the 26" props. Tip speed may be the sound issue. at 172 kv I think 10s will be a better power source. It will be going into a 1/4 scale...

Re: Pilot problems

You often get this with identical twins. The problem will go away once it's painted, as they won't be acting like a "Primer Donna"!

Re: New to brushless

First the bad news- My wife saw how much the motor, ESC, data logger, watt meter, large soldering iron, 400w charger, and 2x5000mah 6s cost! I mentioned it was still no where near the cost of the show tickets I've ordered for our anniversary. I think I've got away with it! Now the good news- Used EC...

Re: UK DFT Consultation feedback

I think Peter has hit the nail on the head. I attended RIAT all four days last week, and every hour or so there was a public announcement reminding everyone that flying a "drone" near an active airfeild would be commiting a criminal offence. There are already laws governing behavior of pil...

Re: New to brushless

Steve, A wealth of knowledge in that noggin of yours! I had been wondering about safety once the batts are connected, and decided to use the same switch on the tranny that I used for ignition cut on my petrol stuff, that way it is habit, and I don't have to learn something new. The esc I have didn't...

Re: New to brushless

Steve,
Just the explanation I was looking for. So it's not a "black art", and whats more amaizing is that I understood it after going over it a few times!

Many thanks

Difficulty in kneeling and flipping props means I am going electric. Selling a 45 and next post will be a Zenoah 38. Zenoah 45, recently bought from this site. Smashing condition, not sure if it's been run but it's clean as a whistle. 1 x Zenoah 45 engine 1 x Stainless silencer 1 x Prop shaft extens...

Re: New to brushless

Steve, Thanks for the links. So it's basicly "pulsing" the motor, but to fast to be noticable. Bloody clever! Is there a formular for estimating flight times if I know the following: Battery voltage Battery capacity Battery C rating motor maximum watts motor maximum amps possible 80% throt...

Alan,
Drop me your details. I've sent you an email.

At least the pilot survived, although he has swapped sides and is now flying a Fok D7!
