Re: Essential RC UltraHD & 4K videos

Great video of a superb model. It was a treat to see it fly.
I feel I should point out, however, that it is definitely not a jet

Gaydon Tiger Moth

Would anyone happen to know who the chap was that was showing his 1/3 Tiger Moth project with the IL4 cylinder engine in one of the 'back' rooms at Gaydon on Sunday? He mentioned to me that he has some surplus parts, so I'd like to contact him if possible. Stupidly, I didn't make a note at the time!...

Re: Sound System

I have a Benedini system in a Sopwith Pup - it's good, but could be louder - if you increase the volume too much, the speakers will blow. The Mr RC Sound systems are really designed for foamies, from what I can determine, those transducers won't work as well when mounted on wood. This system is the ...

Re: New to brushless

10S or 12S makes little difference to the motor - current draw is determined by the load you put on the motor. For the record, I tested mine on a 27 x 12 prop on a 10S 5500mAh pack and current draw was (I think) around 65 Amps. The 'ripping' noise you are hearing is not because the prop tips are goi...

Re: New to brushless

Steve - I have the same motor that'll be going in a Tiger Moth. I've been running it on 10S with a larger prop than you and it's been fine during testing. What determines the real limits of any motor is heating, as long as it's staying under 100C, then it will be fine. However, do NOT engage in exte...

What Dave said above is all true - ALWAYS use the balance connector. BTW, I'm not a Dave. :)

Dave - I'd be very interested to know if you were charging it with the balance lead connected.

Re: Learning about electric set ups etc!

Mike - The mistake that many make is to try to match an electric motor to an IC engine with which they're familiar. Understandable if someone has little or no experience of electrics. What needs to be done is to match an electric motor to an airframe, as electric motors and IC engines have very diff...

FYI, the Practical Scale Tiger Moth is 30% and not 1/3. How much difference this will make to the fit of the cowl, I couldn't tell you!

Re: Servo lead markers

I bought a Dymo 'Rhino' labelling machine - it allows you to print 'flag' markers and will also print on shrink sleeve, which is very handy. http://global.dymo.com/enGB/Categories/ ... nters.html

Re: 4mm Aluminium Ball Links

Surely you could find some short brass or aluminium 4mm spacers and some longer 4mm bolts? I've done this a few times with 3mm ball links and can't see it being a problem with 4mm ones.

Can't think why you didn't just paint those on by hand! It looks a lovely model, Phil. I've seen the fullsize flying several times at various 'shows' - Roger Mills does a great job of showing it.
