Re: Dave Tappin

We knew Dave a.k.a. Tap, through a club we were members of as well as through LMA events. He was always good company. From another forum I have the information :- The funeral is to take place next week on Wednesday 22nd March at 3pm Stonefall Cemetry, Wetherby Road Harrogate with the wake at Square ...

LMA Behind the times?

Behind the times? Well, I know that other strands of social media also exist, but the late news as according to the LMA website has slipped a bit. I know (all too well) the problems of trying to keep a website up to date (I failed, miserably!) However, the first LMA events of the year have been and ...

Re: New prject - DH Chipmunk

quid on it, bet thats more channels than Daves Vulcan. Come to think of it, my 34 foot span Luscombe only uses 4 channels. Now then Paul. Don't tell fibs. I agree that it has Elevator, Rudder, Throttle and Ailerons, which is four, but I'm sure that there are other switches, levers, and door handles...

The Joys and Otherwise of Getting Older

One of the joys of getting older is the U3A. If you have not heard of this it is a sort of co-operative organisation for interest groups. You might want to web-search for the U3A in your area to discover if there is anything of interest to you.... I have recently started a U3A Aeromodelling group in...

Re: Fun stuff goes here.

Paul,

Do remember that in this unseasonably warm weather roadkill 'matures' more quickly, so we may need to add extra seasoning to it at East Kirkby to cover the 'extra' flavour.

Yes, best wishes.

We saw the Keith and the Constellation at Long Horsley, and it is beautiful. We want to see both of them doing what they should be doing a.s.a.p.

Re: DeHavilland DH90 Dragonfly

Just for the record there is a company near us who also sells leather. They have a warehouse where you can browse around the offcuts and buy what you find. If you only want a bit of leather, or want to see what you are getting before you part with pennies it is very useful. It is http://www.jwoodlea...

Different people like different music. Hell is being in a tent next door to someone loudly sharing their different musical tastes with everyone else.

Do you have a colour scheme in mind? If not, then can I suggest Betsy.

This is the Yak 52 that usually visits the show at Elvington. Mrs Hairy Dave has a particularly soft spot for this aircraft.

Re: Feb 2015 Aeromodeller mentions the LMA - but ...

I must say that the spirit of the article is not that ARTF is good, but that showing only the Crown Jewels and not the ordinary suggests that watching is all you can possibly hope for. In fact it goes on to talk about some lovely models such as a tiny P39 Airacobra and a radio-assist Whitley bomber ...

Feb 2015 Aeromodeller mentions the LMA - but ...

In the 'Tail End Charlie' section at the back of the Feb 2015 Aeromodeller Magazine is a section titled 'The Large Model Association - Aeromodelling's Premier League?' It describes LMA models as magnificent. But it starts with the paragraph:- "I would like to contend that the LMA is doing as mu...

Re: wing slats ?

Again, I do not have detailed knowledge or information on this topic, but only an observation. A friend had a second hand model Feisler Storche (sp?) which had leading edge slats - although they were not moveable. This model was almost unflyable. It was well balanced, and unwarped, but it had a vile...
