Re: Cleaning Litho plate

Hi Terry

Pinched the wife's nail varnish remover and had a go with that. It took some of the ink away, but I think it would need an awful lot of remover!

I'll have to find something else. Thanks for the suggestion.

Cleaning Litho plate

Hi Just picked up two sheets of used litho plate from a local print shop. The image is still very much on them and I was told that white spirit would clean it off. It didn't :-( Anyone know of a way of cleaning the image off? Am I right in thinking the base for the image side is silver nitrate? Woul...

Re: Fuel plumbing in a 1/3 Spacewalker

Went along the new, simpler, system of a t-piece and fuel dot. Again a few turns to get the fuel up, but started like a dream and ran faultlessly. Adjusted the throttle curve on the tx. and now have a perfectly acceptable set-up.

Thanks guys.

Re: Fuel plumbing in a 1/3 Spacewalker

@ Dave. It has been about 18 months since I ran the engine in a test rig, so maybe a carb kit would be prudent. @ Bob and Paul. If not the DuBro filler, is there another filler I could use? As suggested by Steve Holland, I spun the engine over with a starter and the plug out and choke on. Took a few...

Fuel plumbing in a 1/3 Spacewalker

Slowly but surely, my Spacewalker is nearing completion, but I have hit a snag. I can't get the motor to run, and this is because no fuel is reaching it. :( I have fitted the Du-Bro fuel filler just in front of the windscreen as per full size but feel this may be the problem. There is about 90mm ver...

Re: huge c**k up

Yes it was :) It was clamped with the spring loaded type of clamp, but when I glue it back on, I shall indeed, stick a few pins in. Like 20 maybe :D :D Porcupines spring to mind. Talk about measure twice cut once, I shall measure three times, check alignment twice and then stick once. Richard

Re: huge c**k up

Thanks for the hints guys. The heat gun idea has worked! Managed to lever the stab away from the fuselage with a fair amount of heat, destroyed the koverall though. Burnt it through in places. :D Removing all the covering proved the structure of the stab is still good, so just needs recovering. I ca...

huge c**k up

Hi, huge mistake on the horizontal stab on the Spacewalker I'm building. Epoxied it on last night, checked it this morning and it is way off, as in way off. Muppet! Is there a way of dissolving the epoxy so I can do it right? I've read softening with a heat gun may help, or acetone. Anyone had exper...

Re: Zenoah 38 carb oreintation

I didn't Steve, it came like that. I did try and move it but chickened out after I put a lot (I thought) of effort into it and getting nowhere. :-) The carb has now got an extension for the pressure equalising hole to the trumpet side of the firewall/engine mount. Throttle cable is sorted. Just the ...

From the photo above, I feel the fuel line is sufficiently away from the silencer box. Please say if you think different. :-)

More pics for your interest.

Re: Zenoah 38 carb oreintation

Hi Tony.
Your skills are way above mine, I'll be going with the carb as in photo #1 and a different route for the fuel pipe. When I get the inlet trumpet (posted on the 4th) I'll have a better idea of the engine fitment.
Thanks for all the help.

Re: Zenoah 38 carb oreintation

Hi Phil

Too late :D , I've already ordered with Toni. :) :) :) Thanks anyway.

I'll just have to find some way of routing the fuel line a reasonable distance away from the silencer box. Don't know how hot it will get, but I'd still feel more comfortable with a space between them.

Zenoah 38 carb oreintation

Part way through building the SIG Spacewalker kit (1/3) and will be fitting a Zenoah 38 with a 90 deg bend on the carb inlet. My question is:- Does it matter if the carb is upside down? carb normal.jpg carb inverted.jpg Having it inverted would keep the fuel pipe further away from the silencer box. ...

Re: Fun stuff goes here.

There was a field full of cows and a bull when an earthquake hit. All the cows fell over but the bull stayed standing. The farmer was confused. He went over to the bull and said, "I am confused, how come all the cows fell over but you are still standing?" The bull said "we-bulls-wobbl...

One day in ancient Rome,at the stroke of mid-day, Julius Romanos Badenos Powellini was being dragged into the centre of the Colesseum as a criminal. Being informed of his crime of dis-obeying his Master and dis-respecting his Mistress, Caesar pronounced that for such an heinous crime, only THE PUNIS...
