Re: An Update on the UK Regulations for Model Flyers

Soooo.. Now we are past the deadline date to register.. I did a “random check” of drones for sale on t’internet... what with it being the run up to Christmas.. Checked drones for sale at Amazon, Argos, Curry’s, EBay, and several other primary suppliers.. (checked drones in our weight limit) Well.. N...

Re: Thankyou

Whilst it is “most generous” of the LMA to pay our £9 CAA registration fee this year..
I have to ask... Why?
Those of us that build and fly display models spend “thousands” a year.. because we enjoy it.. and ask nothing in return!
£9 a year x however many members = a lot of money!

Re: Convair YF2Y-1 Sea Dart

Hi Alex
Now the project is so well advanced and most of the sub assemblies are nearing completion....
Have you weighed it all yet? do you think the weight will be in the right place for the c of g and for its “sit in the water”
Have you calculated the wing loading yet?
Thanks

Re: An Update on the UK Regulations for Model Flyers

Bob As they say.... the scheme has to be self funding to the tune of £2.8million, a truly ridiculous amount of money! It’s a forgone conclusion that the illegal drone pilots will not register and pay.. Then if us legal flyers don’t register and pay? The scheme cannot fund itself so it will have to b...

Re: An Update on the UK Regulations for Model Flyers

Hi Rob
Just received an email from the Bmfa telling members not to rush into registering or taking the test until further notification, as discussions with CAA etc. Are ongoing to improve matters..

Re: Setting up a twin

Jack
You must snip or pull out the red wire on the 3 pin servo lead of ONE of the esc’s to the receiver.. do not have them both presenting all 3 wires to the TX.
Everything will work just fine if you do this...

Rob This whole paragraph really sums up the difference between a drone and a model aircraft... Particularly the last bit about the skill and training required for each... Recent technological advances mean that a much greater variety of small unmanned aircraft are now available. These vary from the ...

Re: new registration rebellion

Looking at the maths.... They have costed this pointless exercise at the incomprehensible amount of £2.8 million Their maths says £2.8million divided by estimated 170000 registrations = £16.50 per registration If only the members of the Bmfa and LMA register.... It will be 36000 registration x £16.5...
