Re: Head Office

You obviously have a beef with the BMFA, Alan, none of my business, I just think both organisations are working for the good of the hobby, and I'm glad they are.

Re: Head Office

Yes, I'm sure you are right Steve. This has been discussed in the past. Our club is affiliated and it give various benefits for the club, we had a break in and they covered everything. For the cost of LMA insurance its hardly worth making a fuss, you will pay more for a broken prop these days.

I was simply quoting the excellent advice given to you by Dave Wilshire above. I suggest you read that carefully.

Re: More content at shows

The free membership is a very nice gesture for flyers who to a show and risk their models. As you say, £20 is not much, but consider the cost involved in going to a show to fly? Last time I went to East Kirkby I had to go each day due to circumstances, and not camp. That resulted in £50 worth of die...

Contact Dan Walker on BBC Breakfast- it was all his idea. He met the guy while walking his dog and was fascinated with the story, he has organised it all.

Re: More content at shows

Yes, I did see that, didnt reply as it clashes with our own Spring Fly in at Langar. I should have thought a more 'summer' event would suit Cornwall.

Re: More content at shows

Its too far for whom? Its not if you live there or go there on holiday, like many thousands of us. Having flown a long time ago at Redruth Show I was amazed how well supported it was. I have no idea how it will be these days though. But there are a lot of people there in summer. Do we maybe have too...

Oh- and one more point- ALL of these young guys were polite, safety conscious and very aware of all rules. I know a lot of young people are looked down on as yobs, its certainly not true of these boys.

Re: More content at shows

Bob, whose mentioned competing with Weston? I am bringing my swap meet team to Cosford, thats all, Going towards a normal type of show IS competing with the likes of Weston, Alan. The LMA was always 'different'. A more mature type of event?...swapmeets are good, whatever. If we want to attract youn...

Re: More content at shows

We have to remember here that the LMA is a very different entity to the likes of Weston Park. The original 'Big Five' in their heyday attracted huge crowds, I know things have to change, but competing with Weston is not a good idea. We have to keep the difference. I very much like the military vehic...

Think it goes together, Alan. If the punters dont want to go, then there is no show. Its no good coming up with venues if the trade cant be persuaded to come.
