Re: Haydock and other events

This situation is only going to get worse. With the advent of the Intermess the normal traders are cut to the bone on costs in order to compete, and the thought of giving up on a weekend to stand in a (possibly cold wet and windy) field to trade looks unappetising. And, of course, pay for the privil...

Re: Show helpers and pilots

With a team, it can be a difficult problem to get enough helpers. Its something you have to look at in advance and ask people if they would help. Its a nice way to get to know each other, too.

Re: Show helpers and pilots

There generally are some in the area, but can't be guaranteed or made a requirement to have them there. The 20 Dawn Patrol helpers should each be with their pilot doing their helper job (extra eyes and ears of the pilot), not reading the paper in the pits until it's time to collect the model and ha...

Re: Show helpers and pilots

Yes, agree Rob. My point is simply that a helper is not just there because the rules say so, they have a job to do and should be briefed on what that job is. In Peters case above, I presume that while teaching his good lady to fly, she will then be conversant with the duties of a helper. I wish some...

Re: Show helpers and pilots

My personal opinion of this is that the helper should not only be able to take over and 'crash safely', they should be aware of the main responsibilities of a helper, mostly as an extra pair of eyes. When I took my test (many years ago- thanks John Greenfield) the Ghost Squadron trick was played on ...

Re: Show helpers and pilots

I was under the (obviously false) impression that a helper had to be an LMA member with a proficiency to be ON the flight line, (or BMFA B cert) and had to be able to take over in the event of the pilot being compromised. I also thought this rule had been in place many years! There was an instance a...

The Sid King silencer will without doubt solve your problem as the so called pepper pot system is not how sids work !! Its based upon a gun silencer !! I can supply the article if required as Ive...

I often use a spot of cyano to hold a tiny screw on a driver- as soon as it tightens up, the glue joint breaks.

Thats not good for a Futaba Tx Alan. They have always been my favourite. However, I reckon I'm sticking to Hitec now, not cheap but not ruddy expensive either. Only problem is the 9 channel limit, but it does not bother me. As I said, replace the pitiful batteries on these 2.4 with something better....
