Re: Reciever switches
Perhaps I am lucky Bob but many modellers used toggle switches, which petrol engines can vibrate them to fail drastically.I was in the mower business and many chainsaws and strimmers were fitted with these and I was constantly replacing them due to falling to pieces internally. The electronic and mag...

Re: Reciever switches
Hi Alan I’ve used slider switches for over 30 years and - touch wood never had a problem. These have been used mostly with various sized petrol engines.I’m not saying they can’t fail but so far so good,I always have used the h.d JR type ,which are now unobtainable I think. The new magnetic / electron...

Re: An Update on the UK Regulations for Model Flyers
It seems to me common sense that when using a shared site an RC pilot should have a mandatory spotter, then these incidents ,which do the rest of us little good ,wouldn’t happen. On our site we have banned multi-rotor flying ,and when obtaining planning permission for our site at a full council meeti...

Re: An Update on the UK Regulations for Model Flyers
The real cruncher is the attitude of the insurance companies - if they say you are not insured if you don’t register I can see a lot of our ‘older’ generation,I include myself thinking it’s all too much hassle ,and take up tiddly winks or some other simple legislation free hobby.Even golf comes to m...

Thanks for all the info Rob - just wondering is this the end of it ,or the beginning of a load more regulations too our safety conscious hobby.
Can’t see it achieving any of their purported aims - getting the uninsured drone flyers and others to toe the line

Re: Stuart Mackay
Thanks Cary I’ve bought a Rexcyl unit ,but thought if I can get the genuine article it would exchange for the one in the model. The model is new and I bought the engine some time ago - it’s always disappointing to find the ignition module playing up. If I’m in trouble fitting the Rexcyl I’ll try Morr...

Re: DB 1/4 scale Sopwiyh Pup & SE5
Hi Rob I’m in the process of borrowing a Pup plan for you - will have it a the W/end. I used a 38 Zenoah in an SE5 I had - perfect engine with the weight in the right place, probably say the same weight wise for the Pup too,38s run well at half throttle and are ultra reliable - it would be my choice....
