Re: Pfalz d.xii rib stitching

Thanks Tim, their forum is an Aladdin's cave of information. They even have a forum dedicated to the Pfalz d.xii
Following some of the links on their site I have got the info that's good enough for my purpose. Rib tapes on main ribs, nothing on riblets.
Cheers

Pfalz d.xii rib stitching

Hi, the wings on my latest build have ribs, half ribs, and riblets. On these WW1 German types was stitching applied to all ribs, or just main and half ribs? I've got fairly good documentation, but no good pictures of the leading edge that resolve the fabric stitching.

I wonder if whoever opens the time capsule in the distant future will have to register?

I must comment on the tireless efforts Rob and the committee have put into this on all our behalf, we do this as a hobby and for recreational pleasure.
Many thanks again.

Re: new registration rebellion

I wonder how many flyers will decide to go "off grid", e.g. not registering and rescinding membership of associations so their details aren't available to the Gestapo. The introduction of badly thought through laws just end up alienating otherwise law abiding people, and fail to achieve th...

Re: new registration rebellion

Interesting to note that the consultation isn't on whether the scheme is acceptable (or effective), but is limited to the charges levied. So objections to the registration scheme will not be considered, (as the requirement for registration has already been passed into law), only objections or commen...

Magnetic catches

Hi all, Still new to this leccy business, and in need of advice. Is it ok to use magnets to hold removable cowl in place, near a brushless motor? I would like to mount them where indicated by yellow dots in the picture, but not sure if they would effect the motor.(4.5 kw brushless outrunner). Magnet...

Re: Spraying camouflage

Thanks Tim, airbrush is on my list of things to buy (and master!) On the building board at the moment is a 1/4 scale Pfalz d.xii and I've used the masking foam with good results on a test piece. The depth of the soft transition can be varied by the angle of the spray. One advantage of an airbrush wi...

Re: 2019 Air Navigation order Update - Potentially Important!

Rob, I'm a bit confused. I thought the original changes made a distinction between multi rotor (drone) and typical wing born models and helicopters. I get the impression that all the work that went into drafting the original amendments has been ignored, and the result is a "catch all" grou...

Re: 2019 Air Navigation order Update - Potentially Important!

My neighbour has a homing pigeon loft, and we live slap-bang on the main approach to Biggin Hill. Should I report him as there is a huge risk of an airprox, or even a collision. Any survivors will also be at risk of contracting bird flu. I'm running out of hobbies that don't incur the wrath of some ...

Cyparis spars

Hi all, I would like to use cyparis for the spars on my latest build, as I have heard that it's lighter, stronger, and has closer grain than spruce. Can't find it or suppliers on google, and was wondering where to obtain it. I'm located near Bromley, Kent, but I'm driving to Norfolk on Saturday so m...

Spraying camouflage

Pfalz d.xii 1/4 scale.
Looking for advice. I don't have any spray equipment, and am using spray cans from Halfords. The subject I'm building has a "soft" transition from one colour to the next, rather than a clean sharp edge. How do I mask to get the same soft edge?
Cheers

I might be wrong, but I think in the event of a claim being made against one of the insurers, the other insurer makes a "contribution" towards the claimants payout. When making a claim, one of the questions from an insurance company is "are there any other insurance policies relating ...
