Re: DB 1/4 scale Sopwiyh Pup & SE5

Rob, I love flying ww1 types and use aileron differential on all of my bipes. I also mix ail/rudder, but that's because I've got a lazy rudder thumb!

Re: Futaba 9C programming help

Tony, I'm picking my daughter up from Stansted airport Monday evening. I'd be happy to pop in Monday afternoon and give you a hand with your transmitter. It's probably easier to show you rather than trying to write it down, and it'll only cost you a cup of tea! Cheers Steve 01698 811446 home 07802 4...

This is a quote from the reply I had from the CAA: "Model aircraft associations or clubs as operators: model aircraft associations or clubs would have the option of registering as the operator with their members acting as remote pilots. In this scenario, the association or club would need to me...

Re: Futaba 9C programming help

Tony, if you can wait till next week, I'll see if I can write an easy to read guide for you. It's not too difficult, and the 9c has a pre-programmed flaperon function. This will need to be activated, and a flap to elevator p-mix set. As far as I remember, ailerons should be on Channels 1 & 5. Ch...

Re: new registration rebellion

Could the combined offices of the LMA and BMFA mount a legal challenge, citing the onerous burden and cost of running a duplicated system for no benefit, and the disregarding of the government's own (and E U) published guidance. There may also be a case that these regulations remove a freedom, and r...

Re: Electronics whizz needed, Oxfordshire area

Tim, I'm not sure how much room you have, but it may be an idea to look at linear servos operating as the rams.
I'm sure you'll get it sorted somehow, can't wait to see the finished article!

Re: 118 inch wingspan Lysander

Michael, I've used Savox SG-0211MG in flying surfaces with good results.

I have one on each aileron on a large Albatros C.iii, and I'm going to do the same on the Pfalz D.xii I'm building at the moment.

Re: Pfalz d.xii rib stitching

Thanks Tim, their forum is an Aladdin's cave of information. They even have a forum dedicated to the Pfalz d.xii
Following some of the links on their site I have got the info that's good enough for my purpose. Rib tapes on main ribs, nothing on riblets.

Pfalz d.xii rib stitching

Hi, the wings on my latest build have ribs, half ribs, and riblets. On these WW1 German types was stitching applied to all ribs, or just main and half ribs? I've got fairly good documentation, but no good pictures of the leading edge that resolve the fabric stitching.

I must comment on the tireless efforts Rob and the committee have put into this on all our behalf, we do this as a hobby and for recreational pleasure.
Many thanks again.

Re: new registration rebellion

I wonder how many flyers will decide to go "off grid", e.g. not registering and rescinding membership of associations so their details aren't available to the Gestapo. The introduction of badly thought through laws just end up alienating otherwise law abiding people, and fail to achieve th...

Re: new registration rebellion

Interesting to note that the consultation isn't on whether the scheme is acceptable (or effective), but is limited to the charges levied. So objections to the registration scheme will not be considered, (as the requirement for registration has already been passed into law), only objections or commen...

Magnetic catches

Hi all, Still new to this leccy business, and in need of advice. Is it ok to use magnets to hold removable cowl in place, near a brushless motor? I would like to mount them where indicated by yellow dots in the picture, but not sure if they would effect the motor.(4.5 kw brushless outrunner). Magnet...

Re: Spraying camouflage

Thanks Tim, airbrush is on my list of things to buy (and master!) On the building board at the moment is a 1/4 scale Pfalz d.xii and I've used the masking foam with good results on a test piece. The depth of the soft transition can be varied by the angle of the spray. One advantage of an airbrush wi...
