Re: Convair YF2Y-1 Sea Dart

Alex,a couple of questions I suspect a lot of viewers would like the answer to.Is this a one off order from a very wealthy customer,if so what is the ball park price,to the nearest £10K ? I suspect you now want me to go forth and multiply.Or is it a prototype for a new product line? I wont be offend...

Re: Hawker Typhoon restoration

I gave the same info to a guy in Canada who is building a Tempest. His reply was that the waters around Sylt are too dangerous for diving due to the large amount of dumped munition,it was home to German U boats and was,I think, the first place we bombed in WW2. Nothing to do with large models but sti...

Re: Hawker Typhoon restoration

Dave, brings back memories.I worked on Tempest 5 in 1953.Used as drouge tugs for air to air gunnery practice.I put a sledgehammer thru the cam covers of the Sabre, about a dozen of them, before dumping them in the sea off the coast of Sylt

Paul, Paul Matts scale airplane drawings volume 2 has drawings and a Black and White photo, not the best that I have seen.It looks like the top of the V ends are simply pivoted and the inner strut is attached to the fuz with a rubber compression block on the fuz centre line

corrugated ABS sheet

I want to simulate the corrugations seen on fullsize aircraft, usually on the ailerons.A lot of ARTFS seem to use fluted ABS sheet. Is it available,I thought that maybe the model train people use it.I dont want to go down the litho plate route, too old and lazy for that.

Re: Latest Journal

I think that lack of younger members is not restricted to the LMA alone,I suspect that the average age in most clubs,is 60 to 70 years.I still think that our organisation is perceived as ,elite, wealthy and skilled. It is a bit like a learner driver wanting to join the F1 circuit. On a lighter note,at ...

Re: Latest Journal

I agree with John Greenfield,I should,we joined the association together,ie at the start.Proir to the LMA it was called The Large Scale Model Association. This was changed because not all models were ,or needed to be scale.I think that the biggest handicap to our growth is the view taken by the avera...

Trouser leg material

No ,I am not a tailor,I have a 7ft span Miles Sparrowhawk, made by Seagull. It flies nice, but the design of the undercarriage could be better. After two or three landings the trouser leg fairings are Kaput.I no longer have a source of lithoplate, but I am wondering about using thick, semi rigid polythene...

Re: Wanted - Large Warbird RTF......

Phil, what version of the Tempest are you building ? I bore people to death telling them that I worked on target towing Tempest 5 in the early 1950 .I also smashed up the last remaining and brand new Napier Sabres engines.Always wanted to build a model of the 5,but too late in life now.

Film covering for foamies

Is there a low temp iron on heatshrink covering that can be used on top of foam, as used in the foamies, that all our LMA members have.
