Re: CAA Operator I.D...what did we pay for

Well, something nasty will hit the fan soon. Less than a thousand from the LMA, 15,000 from the BMFA, thats less than £150,000. Unless the drone fraternity cough up a lot of of money, the 2.4 million a year needed to run the scheme is looking a bit thin. Or is it that EASA will simply take over, and...

Re: CAA Operator I.D...what did we pay for

Something had to be shown for the two million quid given to the CAA for a computer system.

Re: Operator ID

Well, its all going to change with the new EASA rules, obviously working in conjunction with the CAA, coming in June. If these are the rules that were agreed and passed last year, then we can rest a little easier- (27) Since model aircraft are considered as UAS and given the good safety level demons...

Re: Operator ID

John- did they actually come on to the field without permission? I hope you pointed out that they and their vehicle is not insured.... Bob We welcome them onto our site and always have a chat and a brew. It is good to have them onside. It is the same team that drive down the lane I live in and know...

Re: Operator ID

Used to do it regularly until one bobby drove out of the car park and over my starter box.. however, a car is not insured on an active airfield. And private property is just that. Unless invited, they have no right to be there. And accessing our field is via a locked gate. Good luck with that.

here we go again. They will have their own test, their own database and make up their own fees. I feel like we have been scammed.

Out of interest, (I have a B and proficiency) I took the test. It is pathetically simple.

Re: Dave Parry, retiring journal editor, ta much

Dave- as others have said, thank you for your work. I agree FB and Twitter are the new kids on the block, but there is still a core of folk who stand by the LMA Forum, RCMF and others. FB can not store build threads and 'how to' articles like the forums. There is still, in my opinion, a need for them.

Re: Foreign calls for a model for sale anyone?

I have sold stuff (not model related) to a guy from Bulgaria (yeah I know!) he arranged pickup and the guy he got to pick it up was there dead on time and paid cash. But I was very dubious, and this one certainly sounds dodgy.

Re: Bucker Student

The only time I have seen this is when a friend put a petrol motor in a Regal Eagle- the model with formers made from foamboard- and the fumes (while flying) ate away at the foam in the formers...we had to quickly re engine it with a Moki 180 glow.

Re: Bucker Student

Only if a catastrophe happens! You just dont get spillage with petrol. I even leave whatever is in the tank, and block off the fuel pipes. With a pumped carb it is sealed. A burst tank or pipe could flood it, but I have never had that happen with petrol.

Got to disagree John. The journal is often better than the expensive model mags. Long may it continue.
