Re: So what have you been flying this weekend.

I didn't fly last weekend as I'm on the road on a seven day trip (3500miles) to fly my 40% Waco/moki 400 at Monster planes in Lakeland. I take my van and tow my caravan and camp along the way...7000mile round trip @ 10mpg with a Ford van with 6.8l V10! The planes aren't as big as a lot of yours, as ...

Re: Tony Nijhuis 13 foot Wellington - Anyone built one?

SLEC reckon they sell around 15 per year, wonder where they go to? One came here to Canada, but still sitting as I have absolutely no room left in the shop a 40% Waco and 136" "C" class Empire boat , along with 24 other assorted aircraft take up a LOT of floor space......maybe, one d...

ritchuravitch.com in the US does a 109" one. I've seen an electric powered one fly....very nice.

Re: Balance point???

What I did with my 40% Waco is drape a string(with a weight) over the leading edge of the top wing and over the trailing edge of the lower wing, with the plane blocked up so datum line is level. This gives the total chord. I balanced at 28-30% Perfect, no trim adjustments.

Cheers,
Dave.

Re: It's all about the hobby

My other hobby is Morgan cars. I haven't had my car very long....only 43 years now, still runs well. Every month or so the Morgan owners group has weekend runs...the long way round to the pub ;) Although having retired from 44 years in the auto repair business, I find myself very disinclined to work...

Re: A long shot...

Ian, I used the Phillip Kent plans to enlarge to 1/2 scale. I've e-mailed just about every museum in the world that has a C2-C3, but have had no replys as of today. I've just heard of a C-2 in Arlington, Washington State, about a four hr. drive away. I'll see if I can find out who the owner is and i...

Re: A long shot...

Hi Barrie,
Yes, that's what I'm looking for, although that is a later "roundback" model, the basic fuselage is the same.
I'll drop them a line and see if anything happens.
Cheers,
Dave.

A long shot...

Does anybody know the whereabouts of an Aeronca C2-C3 razorback. I am contemplating my next project (1/2 scale) and although I have lots of photos and 3-views I am unable to determine the diameters of the steel tubing that makes up the basic fuselage. If I could find an owner of a full scale, I migh...

Re: LMA GENESIS. Inverted/upright Zenoh?

The engine doesn't care which way up it is. Most installations are inverted purely for packaging reasons and most a/market silencers are geared toward inverted mounting.

Dave.

Re: 17' tony Nijhuis Lancaster Build

Well done Robert!
That was quite an undertaking. Glad you saw it through to the end(well, when you've finished the detailing) and it looks and sounds wonderful in the air. I wish we, here in Canada, had a higher weight limit, so we could fly the bigger models.

Cheers,
Dave.

Re: Polystyrene Pig (Byron Christen Eagle)

I've seen a couple of them fly over here with Sachs 3.2...plenty of power. I've also seen one of them dissolve fairly quickly when it developed a gas leak....kind of funny to watch it fold it's wings and settle into a sticky mess. I believe the owner managed to save the tail feathers and the two upp...
