Re: 3w 70 fuel consumption

Thank you for your help, gentlemen,I am going to fit a 1 litre clear tank in the cabin area, that way I can see fuel usage.I don't do hairy batics with it,it is a Max Holste Broussard,a very sedate aircraft.

Re: 3w 70 fuel consumption

Tony,no clunk, the outlet to the engine is via a soldered pipe out of the bottom of the tank.

Re: 3w 70 fuel consumption

Thanks,John,we do about 6 tows in succession, this gives the other normal flyers a chance to fly. What I did not mention,is that after about a 10 min flight, not towing,I seem to have run out of fuel and had to make a dead stick. No leaks were apparent and the tank was full.I was wondering if the 3 W 70...

3w 70 fuel consumption

I have a 3w 70 in a glider tug.It has a 1 pint metal fuel tank.Anyone any ideas if that tank is large enough. It is very difficult to fit a larger tank in the cowl area.On the tow,I expect the motor to be running flat out,but throttled back there after.

Wing bags

What do you guys use for wing bag material ? I see foil insulation being used, but I think that Keith Mitchell mentioned a material used for protecting furniture.

Worked on them in the 1953 on the island of Sylt,North Germany.Used as target towing tugs along with Tempest 5.I smashed up about a dozen brand new Napier Sabre engines and then dumped them in the sea, what a waste. The job I hated most on the Mossie, was being tied to the undercarriage leg during engi...

Re: Feb 2015 Aeromodeller mentions the LMA - but ...

I think that to a certain extent, the Aeromodeller is correct, but to stick to a football analogy, less than 10% of our membership would be in the Premier league, the rest would be in the Championship. The face of the LMA are the shows and the Web site. These generally involve the same people and models....

Re: making your custom pitts exhaust???

Richard,a lot of shops, such as the pound shops etc, sell a range of stainless steel salt and pepper pots. This will give you a ready made canister, which can be silver soldered with pipe and the like. You will have to fill the letters P and S (usually perforated in the lid),with silver solder.Go to your...

Re: Tillotson carb

Thanks Ken,the engine is some years old,but it is un-run,the diaphrams may have hardened, although if this is the case, why does it run a full tank through on the ground?
