Wanted Any leads on a large canopy 9.5"W x 15"L

Hi All, In this extended building season, I find myself in need of a large canopy, nine and half inches wide and a minimum of fifteen inches long (245mm x 375mm) Longer would not be problem. It's for a 1/3 Bede BD8 A suitably sized canopy from one of the large Cap type aerobatic types might adapt. C...

Re: Wanted Saito FG 84 or 90 radial

As I understand it, the early engines did have a tendency to crack around the base of the cylinder and later engines used a thicker casting. I too faced the same dilemma that you mention. There's a very long thread on rc groups about this engine which gives more background than anyone could need. I ...

Re: Mike Smart 1/4 DHC Chipmunk

Looking good. You are lining up a lot of sanding there. If that is the finish with 120 wet and dry, I would just prime, I use cellulose primer, maybe lightly flat that back with 250 wet and dry. Apply a contrasting colour mist coat and sand using water and a bit of soap. Then apply the finish paint....

Sir Isaac is a particularly cruel and ruthless Deity that we disciples follow.

Congratulations on Build 1, it looks amazing and I hope that now that the god have had their sacrifice, all future flights are trouble free.

Re: Thank you all drone owners

I feel your pain but if you are packing it all in, I hardly think it fair to blame the extra nine quid, especially as the LMA are paying it for you this year. The whole subject has really been flogged to, and beyond, death in the various forums. I fail to understand all the excitement. I've done all...

Re: Foam veneer wing lightweight finish?

Alan it's exactly the same as for covering a core without the veneer. AS long as both sides are done together there are no issues. It leaves a good finish for paint but can have further coats of PVA and be rubbed back for an even better finish.

Re: Foam veneer wing lightweight finish?

You can brown paper/pva bare foam cores, veneered foam or sheet balsa. a quick google will give you many variations on the theme.

Re: Foam veneer wing lightweight finish?

Brown wrapping paper and PVA slightly watered. Cheap, tough sandable, takes paint well. On all sheet models it's brilliant. Did you ever see any of Chris Golds' models?

Do both sides at the same time, the shrinkage is strong but it is a great stressed skin finish

Re: FN5 turrets for Wellington

This turret is simply a work of art and, sadly, I feel that it has no place on a flying model. It would be such a waste. It reminds me of the Spitfire and Mustang models on display in Hendon / Cosford and built by David Glen and it deserves an equally auspicious home. Fair pay to you Mr Huff, I thin...

Re: An Update on the UK Regulations for Model Flyers

I think that we are still in 'sit back and wait' territory. It's a good result as far as it goes, at least there is some acknowledgement of competencies gained through the model flying associations and a slight reduction in the fee but overall it remains a crock of equine faeces that will have littl...

Re: An Update on the UK Regulations for Model Flyers

I agree that the suggested fee isn't massive in the scheme of things. What isn't acceptable is to impose the legislation onto a group of existing users who are knowledgeable and law abiding when all can see the utter and complete pointlessness of what is being imposed. I could even go along with the...

Rob, What reasons do 'the other side' put forward for requiring registration to be annual and not say 5 yearly?
