Re: Meister P47D Refurbishment

Not sure about bling, thinking of making it all dirty an 'orrible especially as people are getting upset about the squeeky clean Spitfire.
I finished the camo on the fuz today, I'm pretty inmpressed with the paint should be able to crack on with the markings tomorrow.

Re: Meister P47D Refurbishment

Thanks for that Jason, thats shed some light on things, what becomes apparent is that the aircraft was repainted with a different camo scheme causing some confusion when we've compared photo's of the modern and old. Despite the gear doors being bare metal the underside seems to still be light grey, ...

Re: Meister P47D Refurbishment

Yeah been on there, theres tons of them. Don't think we will ever find all round pictures of the original aircraft though, Who's gonna know it's not quite right?

Re: Mick Reeves 1/4 Mk9 Spitfire

Right back at the start of this project we decided the supplied spinner was not only the wrong shape but was also not up to the job. We managed to find a secondhand spinner of the right shape but still had a single fixing bolt through the middle, so it was all sent to Allan at Cestrian who made a ve...

Re: Meister P47D Refurbishment

The camo pattern is very unusual and we don't have many good pictures of the original fullsize aircraft, there are a few useable pictures of the left hand side but not much of the right. To make it even harder the restored airworthy P47 in the states isn't very accurate either, so I've had to use a ...

Heres just a snap of the back end showing the markings. It's all painted now and will have the fuel proofer applied later in the week.

Re: What's the lowest cost to get a jet in the air?

If you went secondhand I reckon about £1500, I have a Fly Eagle Jet F16 coming up for sale very soon. It will be just the airframe and retracts, it currently has a Jetcat P80 for power. You can pick those engines up at reasonable prices.

Those will take all your paper round money for the next few months, well worth it though. Better buy two sets so Steve's got some too.

Re: Meister P47D Refurbishment

I've got a few pics which I'm waiting for "her indoors" to resize for this site. The Whole model was taken back to the glass, the tailwheel doors will be re-made whilst the edges have been repaired. Steve just wants it re-painted so there won't be any flashy new parts other than the new co...

Re: Meister P47D Refurbishment

Forgot to say even though the Warbird paint costs more than normal paint it's definatly worth it and as you mix it with water rather than cellulose it means it smells better too.

Re: Meister P47D Refurbishment

Dangley legs dropped by today to checkout progress so I thought I'd better do a bit. Sprayed the dark grey onto top side of the fuselage and one wing today with Phil Clarkes Warbird paints. I had heard mixed reports about these paints and having never used them before was a bit concerned as to how i...
