Postby Nick Reeves 3055 » May 18th, 2012, 6:52 am

Hi all,

I am looking for an idiots guide to using Diatex as have only ever covered with films and solartex. What prep do I need to do to the structure prior to covering? How do I apply the diatex? What do I need to do it before finish painting? This is all for use on at least three model that i have in the pipeline. all info greatfully received
Cheers
Nick

Nick, prep work for attaching Diatex is to brush dope all round the edges of the area to be covered, might need two coats, lay Diatex on and brush dope through onto the prepared edges, do it twice. Once totally dry, you can trim and then heat shrink. As for finishing it depends wether you want the weave to show or not. Two coats of thinned dope and then two light coats of primer will leave the weave slightly showing. Hope this helps. Solly.
