have i blown me servo

Postby Alan Cantwell 1131 » August 14th, 2012, 8:25 pm

got a JR nes-713 retract servo, tonight, i mistakenly shoved 6 volt through it, it did not smoke, it does give a small wiz of the gears--barely, but nothing else, the web site of JR says 4.8 volt only, had a look inside, nothings cooked, is it boogered? its an 8kg servo, and is needed for a fournier retract,

WELL, RE-ASSEMBLED IT, and a puzzle, tried it again with the 6 volt, nothing, tried it again with a 4,8, SUCCESS, could it be that the servo, a rather dear one, has a circuit that shuts down if over zapped??? got me puzzled, if trials are a success, then the retract will get its own battery, because of the 13 foot wing, i want 6 volt operation, but this has puzzled me

Are you sure its not the 6v battery that has the problem !!!?

nope, battery is 100% its also tested with a load on it, servo is back in, and working ok now, just a puzzle why the 6volt did neither power it, or fry it, darned glad it didnt do the latter
