YT Bronco (d)

Postby pete.pitt » September 25th, 2012, 6:39 pm

Just test flew my YT bronco,C g as stated in the instrutions, power is 2x 22 zenoa ,it took along time to rotate and that was with full flaps deployed, 230yds think the cg is to far forward at 129mm any one tryed this model at a more reward cg? plenty of power ,with out flap would not rotate ,when flaps were up she dropped her nose but i could trim it out.

contact Andy Johnstone, he flew one for a while, sounds to me like its nose heavy, what was it like when you go the flaps up?

Would FULL flap be creating more drag than lift?
Also, Zenoha 22s aint the most powerfull of engines out there.

Your use of full flap is possibly producing the opposite effect to that you want, drag not lift. I don't know what your full flap setting is but normally max take off lift is achieved with about 12 to 15 degs of flap.

Also agree, if you are using 45 degrees+ of flap, all you are doing is creating drag.......try a 'clean' take off, or if you have to use flaps, 10-15 degrees max.

You had to add up trim to fly straight & level with no flap, or you had to add up trim when flap was added due to a nose down pitch with flaps?

What does this model weigh?

What props & at what peak rpm are you using on the 22's

What props & at what peak rpm are you using on the 22's 17 x8 menz at 65oo rpm speed was not a problem.up trim need when flaps retracted.plenty of power from engines. i wing cord 443mm given CG 129mm i was thinking of going to 147 mm just short of 3rd cord ,it is fine in the air no problems at all,
and the flare on landing well it would not flare which points me in the direction of beeing nose heavy?any help or advice would be great thanks phil]

If it's fine one in the air but needs up trim and you have no elevator authority to flare (or to rotate on take off), then yes, it's nose heavy. Shift it back 1/2" and dry again............

Hi Pete , I had my C+G back at nearly a 1'3 of the wing ,the instructions is to far forwards ,but you need to have a lot of elevator movement as when you slow it down to land the elevator is out of the prop wash and becomes dead . When I used the flaps it put the nose up so I had a mix giving down elevator when using the flaps .Mine was powered by 2 zenoah 23's and had loads of power and could fly round just on 1 engine. If you need any more info you can ring me on 07768855723.
