Large hinges

Postby John Greenfield » June 24th, 2014, 7:17 am

Hi All

I am looking for the supplier of some very large hinges I saw some time ago. They are a bit like oversize Robart hinge points but twice the size and moulded in a off white meterial. they have a large pin hinge and rectangular mouldings on each part the pin goes through.

Does anyone have any idea who sells them.

Thanks

John

Hi Sean

Thanks for your input but they are not the ones. The ones I am looking for are much larger. The shafts are around 6mm diameter and overall they are around 100mm long from memory. The more I think about it I think I may have seen them on a trade stand at Dortmund several years ago and remember thinknig who would want a hinge like that !!! Well I do now !

Anyone else got any thoughts.

Regards

John

I know the ones you mean John, I saw some at Jet power last year but do not have the contact. I will be going again this year so if you still need them in September I will get some for you.

i think Phil Clarke used some large ones, but made of Ally, on the skyraider project, but he does not list them in his accesories

Sorry for the delay......been enjoying a day at the BTTC at Croft :-)

They were from Sierra Giant scale........so Belair should be able to help you as they are the current Sierra agents. I've used their smaller alloy ones in the Belair link above on 110-120" Warbirds........the BIG versions I've only used once and as you correctly say, this was on the Raider, but that build was 8 yrs ago now, so I have no idea if Sierra still do them.
