Wing skinning with FR4 glass sheet

Postby Mike altham » August 26th, 2014, 7:44 am

Hi,

I am currently looking at making pink foam wings, fin and canard for a new project.

I need them to be light but really strong and I am looking at vac bagging them with FR4 glass fibre sheet on both sides.

My question is, what thickness of FR4 should I be looking at for a 90lbs twin turbine jet model?

I was thinking of .3mm.

Any adivise would be welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Mike.

Mike--Harold Dowbekin and Ted Allison have used this epoxy sheet in many applications similar to what you describe---I know .3 is the thickness used on the large Panther and Lightning---it would be worth a chat with them---if you need their contact details let me know----DAVE
