Bending aluminium plate/ bar

Postby Elliot Howells » September 3rd, 2024, 9:31 pm

Hi, has anyone any experience with this ?

I'd really like to setup a hydraulic press to make my own undercrackers but don't want to waste money on a dead end if it's not the way to do it.

Any advice very gratefully received, Ell.

Heat, soap, vice, big mallet, all I’ve ever used, used to use duralumin, but can’t find any now

Elliot , maybe you could consider to beg , borrow or buy a hydraulic pipe bender which could be relatively easily modified to bend undercarriages ? Has been done .

Thanks guys, I've now tried the candle smoke method - much like the soap method, which works great.

As a heating engineer, I could justify a hydraulic pipe bender, but not this close to christmas!

Really appreciate the input.

Ell.
