engine thrust lines

Postby Arthur Fielding » October 31st, 2022, 9:44 am

Hi
I would apreciate some advise please.
I am building a none scale sea plane from a plan, there are no thrust lines shown.
The engine is mounted on a pod facing forward above the wing, and i wonder what the thust line should be.
To my, may be wrong way of thinking with the engine above the wing / fuselage it could be like flying a twin with one motor stopped.
Thanks for your time
Arthur

Arthur

It is difficult to be specific without knowing the model you have but as a general rule, with the motor mounted above the wing some upthrust is required. normal rules for right sidethrust apply.

Thank you for your reply, the model is called Katrina drawn by Alistair Sutherland, who used to write in the model mags .The wing section is clark Y. The tail plane is flat.
I am building this for winter use to fly off our field when it gets water loged in the coming winter.
Thanks for your help
Arthur
