Hi all,
I'm fast coming to the final stage of completeing my 33% Pitts Model 12. I bought the model as a pre fabricated factory built kit a couple of years ago but it was second hand and there was no information provided with the kit. I have managed to complete the construction/ assembly in addition to the avionics installations and finishing without the aid of any plans ( cannot be certain who the kit manufacturer is ). Can anyone help me in reference to the location of a safe center of gravity point for this type of model please.

Hi Paul . . I would balance your pitts at the centre point between the trailing edge of the top wing, and the leading edge of the bottom wing (at the centre) I know this is the point of balance of the practical scale 1/3rd scale pitts s2 . . I reckon it should be the same. Hope this helps . . regards Glenn

Hi Paul,
My 37% Pitts S12 balances 1/2" back from the leading edge of the bottom wing.
Hope that helps
Andy

Thanks Glenn and Andy. I have been informed that my Pitts 12 is also the 37% version so I should get pretty close to the correct balance point
with your help. Andy.... Do you have any information about your Pitts as it sounds like it may be the same as mine. I have seen yours flying on youtube. Mine is a very high quality ready built model but I have no idea who the manufacturer is.

Hi Paul,
Mine was originally the Jamara 2.4 S12, think Als Hobbies sell them???. IAD Designs had it originally, but the tail broke off in flight (design flaw, nothing to do with them) and i aquired it whilst buying a engine from Iain. It flys great, but if yours hasnt been flown then strengthen up the tail. I did mine with a 1/8 X 1" carbon blade. Also used carbon supports between the tail and fin (just to be safe

) If you need any more info then let me know, it will be flying at Long Horsley this weekend if you are there just come over and say hi

Alway ways good to meet people with good taste
Cheers
Andy
