Prop shaft extension

Postby Bill Glasgow » January 20th, 2009, 9:12 pm

My Laser 150 is just too short in length to fit future model project without the cylinder head sticking out of the cowl. A prop shaft extension of 1" would do the trick if practical. Neil (Tidey) advises that it has been done successfully before. No doubt there are risks with balance and possible vibration. Has anyone had or heard of any success with a prop extender on this size of engine?

Tony Goodyer of Unitracts has made a number of prop-shaft extensions of various lengths for Lasers, suggest you call him on 01474 359990.

Hi John,

I tried calling Tony but no reply as yet (probably after workshop closing time). Have sent an e-mail enquiry via the Unitracts website.
However, I see on the website that there are shaft extensions up to 35mm offered so only have to confirm with Tony that this would be suitable for the Laser 150.
Looking hopeful I think!

Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Cheers,

Hi John,

Unitracts will make a Laser 150 shaft extension for £20 + postage - very reasonable and will place order at the weekend.

Thanks again,

Bill
