Intake tubes?

Just wondering what you guys make intake tubes from?

I have thought get a metre long length of drain pipe, the correct size, then smear with release agent, put a layer of glass fibre on it, then place strips of 1/16 balsa down the length of it and then cover that with glass fibre, then slide the pipe out to leave you with a light strong tube.

I think it would be strong enough so it would not collapse under the vacume of the engine air intake.

To save you the hassle of laying up glass, why not use the pipe as a mould and wrap 'Proskin' (thin glass fibre sheet sold by Mick Reeves) around the outside and stiffen with carbon tape/tows every few inches? Just make sure you key the outer surface VERY well before applying resin & carbon as not mush like sticking to the very smooth surface of the Proskin.

Found a company in Bradford that does the Proskin or G10 FR4

Called presspahn.

For 0.2 or 0.4mm thick it is £29.24 + VAT and shipping and is 1220mm x 910mm
