Pilots and cockpit detail

Can anyone advise on where to get decent pilot figures that don't cost an arm and a leg (if you'll pardon the pun) and some decent kit to make up a cockpit instrument panel. They are required for the large Zirolli B25 Mitchell, (it comes out at 1/7 scale). We need two head and torso for the cockpit and a full body for the front gunner (and perhaps 2 x head and shoulders for the upper and rear gun turrets). We've searched a few web sites with not much luck. We would prefer that the two pilot figures had caps on as opposed to flying helmets as per US bomber crews used to wear. The nearest (and best) we've seen are "Best Pilots" in the US, but these come out at 1/8th scale and would cost in the region of £200 + for two half and one full figure. We could get away with a printed instrument panel, but raised dials would look better. Again, we've seen some commercially available kits but they too are in the region of £150 to £200. As I mentioned in the intro to the build thread on the model, it wont be entered for any static judging, we just want it to look decent as per "stand off" scale.

Any hints or tips would be most gratefully appreciated.

Have you tried looking on ebay for dragon or bbi figures, they say they are 1/6 but i got away with them in my 1/7 dauntless.
Don't worry if you cant find the figure in the correct clothing, there are lots of clothes available separate. A boxed pilot should be about £50 but sometimes you can get them in a bag (still with all the bits) for £10.
