Having sold a few models in my fleet recently I have space for my next build. I had planned to build a B25, but having done more research and having a good look at a 118" Ziroli model, I've decided it's not for me and I've been looking at other planes. It's at this point that I stumbled across the Palmer Plans 96" Bronco on the Belair website and I'm now 100% positive that it's got to be a Bronco. I don't know why, but I just love the shape.

Although the Palmer one looks good and YouTube videos appear to show it's a good flyer, this is going to be my next "Big" build, so I'm hoping to find a version at around 120" or 1/4 scale.

Can anyone point me in the direction of 1/4 scale plans or even better a part kit (Lazer cut ribs and formers for example).

Same as your B-25 idea Chris........nothing in 1/4 that I've ever seen so one based around a Palmer enlargement is probably your best option.

Palmer plans tend to be very over engineered and overly complex, so a straight enlargement would probably end up excessively heavy, so a lot of simplification would be in order.

I've heard that the Palmer version is also not the easiest plan to follow. I had planned to do some re-jigging of any plan, as being a veggie pilot, I find most plans are over engineered or not appropriate, as my electric routes are usually a lot smoother, so need less reinforcing against vibration and often need a slightly tweaked layout to get battery access for example.

Having done more and more research, I'm leaning towards sticking with 1/5th and going for 96" now, straight from plans. I had planned to go 120" and run a 12s motor set up either side, but I'm hoping if I built it right I'll get away with a 6s either side at 96". Plus with essentially 3 fuselages and an unusual tail, I think 120" will become a pain to set up, as I'll need to make it in too many sections (for my liking at least) to transport nicely.

On the Belair site they state that the plan builds at around 19lbs, now I can only assume that's without any gear in it, as at 96" for this style I'd estimate nearer 25-30lbs? I suspect at that weight it would certainly fly nicer. Part of me wants it light as an electric pilot to chuck around, but the scale part of me wants it chunky to make it look smoother in the air, so I'm going to aim for around 25-28lbs. I think that's achievable (fingers crossed) and with 3500w-ish should be a pokey flier.

I'm going to visit Cosford on the Saturday anyway, so plan to phone Belair on Monday in the hope they can take some plans with them, so I can start work on the design the week after. First thing will be seeing how to make it veggie.

Thanks Dave, it does look very nice, but it looks like all his stuff is on hold at the moment, so no sure what's happening there. I'll ping an email and see what the response is.
