Does anyone know a company in the Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire area that can enlarge plans?

Any good high street photo/print shop with a digital copier will do it. If the plan is an old drawn plan, you cut or fold the plan length ways down the fuz with about an inch over the centreline, get them to copy the larger piece with the appropriate % + dialled in for one half and then get them to mirror image and print again. This gives you an accurate plan when sello-taped back together as both sides are now identical. Do this for wings, fuz and tail plane etc. Accurate planes fly better.

When you go to the print shop don't quote a percentage - tell the operator how long you want the sheets to come out eg; enlarge from 40" x 20" to 60" x 30" or whatever the relevant dimensions should be. Otherwise you may get something you don't expect !

And of course do the age old trick of reference markings.
In blank areas of the plan, get a 90 deg set square and draw a right angle corner. Working from the apex, measure off a set dimension, say 100mm up each leg and make a mark. Do this in a few places say 3-4 per sheet.
After you have had the plan scaled up, before taking it home, check your reference marks.
Say you are scaling up 25%. The reference mark was 100, so now it should be 125. Check both the vertical and horizontal. Paper can stretch, elongation in the process,....... I'm not a printer but have heard of these problems many times.
This way, using the reference markings, you are sure that your "blown up version" really is accurate in both the vertical and horizontal.
