hi all

need advice on servos for my reed falcon, looking at MG servos but not sure which to choose no scrimping on these as for Bipe, i have a max budget of £25 per servo 8 mg 1 standard for throttle.

covering nearly done engine to fit with pitts then smoke at a later date

one other thing

what would be the best throws for this aircraft

MG's were always terrible oil leaky breaky down things. Apart from that one they made in the 90's that was a Metro going backwards, the less said about that the better.

Or, if it's metal geared servos you're after, Hitec 645Mg.

Oh, and for the throws I'd make the elevators go up when you pull the stick back, the right ailerons go up when you move the stick right and vice versa.

Savox 252 metal geared and around 10kg. Not a Hitec fan!

Travel is subjective, but quite a bit elevator and soften with some expo 15-20%
Ailerons I'd set slightly more up aileron movement than down and 10% expo

i was looking into savox but was not sure which ones, thanks for the heads up looking to run electronics at 6 - 7.4 volts lipo

Savox SV 0320 from the Servo Shop are £17 each according to their website not the torque though. The 0220 are near the torque you are looking for and are at £23 each

still have to work out the throws oon this and weather is requires aileron diff

Hi Rich, yes aileron differential, if your throw on the aileron up is 100% then reduce the aileron down movement to 70%

planned on 4 chs independent 1 ail to a channel would just program each channel identically?

Mg servos are a good choice for biplanes.
However, I would be more looking down the route of digital servos for this plane.

Spectrum a6010 are a good servo ( don't know price) and a6030's.

Savox servos are a brilliant little servo! Got several in my smaller electric planes and never had a minutes problem with them ( the backs have broke off, case is almost worn, and they still work like the day I had them).

I personally love Jr servos, 8411 and 8511's are a tad on expensive side, but I have had 10 x 8511's for almost 11 years and other than the occasional gear, they are still running strong.

I know this may seem like I'm saying go for expensive servos, however, these little things are what makes the magic happen, and scrimping on what I believe is the most important electronic item, could result in disaster.

And would you want that to happen because of flutter?, or simple failure of electrics? No. .. Especially as you have obiously taken alot of time building the plane! ( very nice building btw).

Best advice I can give is, save the pennys and buy good quality servos instead of rushing and putting budget servos in

thanks Robbie i opted to go for 9 savok 252 10kg servos and one savok 20kg for rudder still saving for them so falcon on hold again

concentrating on a 1/4scale tigge revamp which i am hoping to have ready for East kirkby Weekend
