Prop bolting orientation

Postby Frank Skilbeck » January 19th, 2018, 8:45 am

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere, just using my first multi-bolt prop (4 bolt on a DLA 32) with a wooden prop, is there a preferred bolt layout, should the holes be at 45 deg to the prop blades or 0/90 degrees. I looked on line and could find pictures of both, so thought I would ask.

Frank, I think it depends on the engine, remember that when the magnet is passing the hall sensor the prop should point to 1 o'clock. this will determine the hole position on the prop hub. not very scientific but it might help.

Paul, thanks for that, so it's basically position the prop for hand starting, much appreciated.
