need advice
the p47 has no top access for internals
my query
is it possible to cut a top hatch that includes the canopy without messing up the fuse integrity
or would it be better to cut a small side hatch for power switches and air fill

Small hatch Richard......a large upper hatch incorporating canopy will cut through the upper main fuselage longerons, so is to be avoided.

Does it need one? There’s a big hole underneath we’re the wing sits?

at present all switch are accessed via the wing removal not the best for shutting the aircraft down.
an airframe with clean lines, a recessed hatch is in order as it has to hide the FRS duel redundancy switch, ign light and switch and air fill

ooo thanks for that
a possibility i will see if it possible depends on how well the canopy is glued down,
but the small hatch is number one on leader board for now

Lithoplate with a section of the models balsa skin bonded on the back.
Location wise.......get yourself a good P-47 3-view set of drawings & find a convenient sized/located hatch on the forward fuselage........if you're going to add a functional hatch, you may as well put one in a scale location.
......you'll find there are several suitable options on the port side of a P-47!!!
