Hi guys
What wood glue you people use to build your aircrafts?

Most glues these days are very good. 30min epoxy for high stress areas, PVA wood glue, (Gorilla make a very good one) and various strengths of cyano. I tend to use Screwfix own brand Mitre Bond which comes with kicker - its thick and very strong. I dislike thin cyano but it has its uses- pound shop sell it for pennies. I dislike the foaming Gorilla glues, but some people swear by them.

Hi Rosario ,it depends what you are building - for white glue I use the blue bottle Evostick,available many places.
For epoxy both 30 minute and 5 minute I use Zpoxy and for very high stress e.g.firewalls I use hysol.
I only use very limited cyano - Zap thick and thin.Using the thin for joining balsa sheet.for wing sheeting.
All these glues are not cheap but over the years I’ve not found better.

Hi Rosario, beware that some pva white glues are heat sensitive and can become rubbery in high temperatures (even left in the sun on hot days). I prefer to use an aliphatic resin, it withstands heat and is easier to sand on a laminated edge. For high stress areas use epoxy. Personally i do most of my construction with thick and thin cyano, the thin to run into pre-made joints and thick for push together components, for large areas i.e. sheeting, i like aliphatic.

I agree with paul, never use PVA as it never sets hard and is difficult to sand. Aliphatic for general construction, epoxy for stressed areas and cyano for balsa.

The Gorilla brand does set hard, its more like an Aliphatic. As I said, I dont like their foaming glue, but this is the best white glue I have found.

Bob, I have never used gorilla glue, its too expensive. If it is a pva based glue then it will be heat sensitive. As we know Balsa loc is pva based and that sticks and unsticks with heat.

It is expensive, Paul, but its very good stuff. I imagine it is heat sensitive, but have not tried that. Good thing is it is not rubberry when dry.
