Off Topic Forum

Postby Dave Parry » October 3rd, 2011, 8:19 am

Hi all, I was just wondering would anybody be interested in an off topic forum, where members can discuss topical issues of the day or week etc... It could be something in the news or something that you feel you would like to get other peoples opinion on, who knows. Give me your thoughts please.

Hi Dave, I think that would be a great idea. A bit like the old forum in fact where any and everything was discussed with loads of banter and a lot more fun and "general discussion" without being slotted into different little sections.

KTGWU

Cheers Tony.

PS. How about a vote on it?

Done so get voting

Sorry to see I am outvoted three to one already :o

The other well attended nodel flying forums already supply more than enough general chat I think.

Bob, if you are talking about the LMA forum as opposed to outside forums then I think the discussions are mostly related to a certain subject. I think Dave is referring to OFF TOPIC discussions so that any subject or thought can be aired.

Tony.

Hi Bob, I wasn’t thinking about other forums, I was just thinking about our forum members. I would rather they used our forum to chat than go to other forums, who knows we might even get busy and have to up our bandwidth again.

Looks as if I have met one of the criteria :D I have already assisted by causing the generation of three out of five posts

Can I change my vote then? In the interest of being a team player 8-)

Dave, as there is already a majority showing, just start the Off Topic Forum and we will soon find out whether it catches on. To be honest I am not against it.

Come on guys, stop sitting on the fence, and get voting, yes or no it’s up to you. The voting will stop on Monday night at 9: pm and whatever the result I will honour it.
So if you want an off topic forum then get voting, if you are against it you also need to vote, you can’t blame me if it doesn’t go your way.

Okay, 4 days left and 65% is in favour against 35% not in favour, so has anybody got any thoughts as to what off topic discussions you want. That is if we win, it is still anybody’s race.

Alan, I think them subjects would need forums of their own.

Bob, naughty, naughty

As other forums have these off topic areas and if it happens, we will need a name for ours, now considering most of us use some sort of mobile device these days like laptops ipads blackberry’s etc.. How about calling it Armchair Chat, I love the pub’s name idea that RCMF have but I think it has been over done now, what do you think? can you come up with a name? Please remember this is a light hearted place we want to create for the forum to complement Tony Collins fun stuff go’s here thread. So come on get your thinking caps on.

ANYTHING GOES ----HERE

Like the old forum, anything can go. Whatever crosses your mind . Have a discussion on anything under the sun. Even have a friendly argument. let your hair down on anything whether its related to our hobby or not. Maybe not sex or politics although I've sailed a bit close to wind on the former.

Actually Mike I did think of "THE OLD FARTS LOUNGE"
But then I thought perhaps some of our members who haven't reached the old farts stage yet might feel left out.
Mind you I still think the vast majority of us would qualify for the title.

Dave as this meant for you, it was simply a lesson on how to become an old fart. I speak as Chairman of the Chelmsford and Braintree Old Farts Club. I could edit it of course, but I won't just to be faithfull to the cause.

Anyway goes is spelt goes without an apostrophe you old fart.
