Volt-on Racing batteries.

Postby Michael Ronan » March 20th, 2015, 12:09 pm

Hi. I have just bought a Sky 120 trainer from the late Dave Bailey collection of models. The plane is fitted with a Volt-on Racing battery type Rx 2500-JD XHP 6.6v 16.5Wh. It has four pairs of wires of varying size and various end fittings some of which I have never seen before. My question is what type of battery is it and what charger do I need to buy? Any other information would also be very helpful. Thank you for reading this and look forward to getting some help. Michael Ronan. LMA No. 2081

Mike,

Do they look like this?

If so they're A123 Lithium Iron (LiFe) batteries that need a LiFe capable charger,

If you're unsure, take a photo of the batteries & connectors and post it up here.

Rob. Many thanks for your reply to my question. The battery I have is virtually identical to the one in the picture . The difference is only in the number ie. RX2500_JD XHP 6.6v 16.5Wh. In the photo it does not show the four pairs of wires attached to the battery. The leads were fitted during manufacture . You say the battery is a Lithium Iron is that the same same as a Lithium Ion or is it a different type of battery. It would help if I could speak to you about it over the phone one evening if possible. My number is 01702 467798 or 07554158059. My e.mail address is mbronan@tiscali.co.uk Kind regards.
