FlyEagle 1:4.5 Hawk

My Hawk got it's third flight in today ...... Very nice - and so smooth.

So pleasant after a 'challenging' test- flight last week when, amongst other things, I got a flame-out on the second circuit but got it down safely. Somebody up there was watching over me .......!

One of my favourite Military Jets, and an excellent model Keith. My late father worked on the design of the Hawk, he was an aerodynamasist at BAe Brough.

........ well your old pop certainly got it right, Paul!

And FlyEagle have certainly got it right with this one. As all who fly jets know, Hawks have got a 'bite' and will certainly let you know if you get the speed too low in the turns, or - as experienced in my otherwise thoroughly enjoyable flight at Longhorsley yesterday - will give you a little 'nip' at the bottom of a loop if you're a little heavy-handed on elevator and haven't got a bit of power on .........

Hi Keith

I'm new to jets - did you find the cause of the flame-out ? I need to learn about these things !

ps also found the same handling quirk on my PC Flight Sim' - just added more "thrust-to-weight" so the lower throttle settings leave more rpm on. Don't know if this will work in 'real life' mode though...

....... a shard of F/G stuck in the main clunk. Always, always wash-out new tanks to make sure you ain't got any swarf in 'em!

Yes, you can set a higher idle, but fuel consumption goes up if you want to keep a high level of residual thrust. Again, you can take all the precautionary measures in the world, but it's what you do in your 'noggin' that matters most ....
