Wanted compressor wheel for Jetcat P120

Postby Philip Goff » May 4th, 2016, 8:16 am

Dear All
As mentioned in the title, does anyone have or know where I can get
a compressor wheel for Jetcat P120 please the engine is about 12 years old.
The engine has worked faultlessly in our MR Lightning.

While carrying out routine maintenance yesterday, I noticed
that a small piece had broken off one of the compressor blades.

Thank you.

Regards Phil G.

Jetcat have them, they fitted a new one to mine when it did the same thing.
LMA Secretary - I've got a reasonable idea where you live!

Phil
you cant just unbolt the old compressor and fit a new one without rebalancing the whole compressor, turbine wheel and shaft and this requires disassembly of the whole motor. I would suggest you send it to back to Jetcat or one of their approved service centres to have the job done properly.

He's already had that conversation ;-)
jetCat have a balancing rig that is very special, also such an old turbine probably has a steel combustion chamber that will likely be a bit of a mess. As always JetCat quote on the job before anything is done, so you have the chance to decide the repair is not economic!

Dear All
Thank you all for your valued advice.
The engine is now on the road to recovery.

After last weekends traumatic events, I had forgotten about this thread.
