Ken passed away in Oldham on the 28th August at 11.45pm after a brave but futile fight with cancer. He died peacefully in his sleep with his daughter and step daughter at his bedside. Ken survived his partner Margaret by only a few short months. He leaves behind Sonia, Claire and a son Philip.
After a lifetime in modelling, Ken’s input as one of the founder members of Dawn Patrol was enormous. He was a highly respected and popular member of the team. His black self-deprecating Lancashire humour will be greatly missed; the story of Ken’s boots has passed into legend.
Ken’s Fokker Triplane, Fokker DVII and Albatros DV remain within the team. Whenever they take to the air with a Dawn Patrol formation in the future we will remember him.
The team will be commissioning a cup to be known as the Ken Hart trophy, which will be presented annually at the Dawn Patrol AGM.
I am deeply saddened by the loss of a very close and dear old friend
