I found this old Cosford show clip on one of my old camcorder tapes so uploaded it to youtube. It's a very early clip circa 1996 I think
which makes the clip almost 16 years old.
See if there is anyone on the clip that you recognise and notice that it was actually roasting hot which is something we ain't seen at
Cosford in recent years. Looking at the clip you soon realise that we aren't really doing things that differently today than we did all those
many years ago.
Here is the link.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OS0PkNjv6K0There are no turbine jets at this show due to the fact that they were still very much in their infancy.

Look all the original Warbird pilots, wow. When I was a nipper I used to go to the shows rushing to see you guys do your stuff, now when I go to the shows I have to make sure Jon has plenty of pressed shirts to dribble on, make sure Willy doesn't have too muck Speckled Hen shandys(or he makes a terrible mess) and listen to those old stories of "did I tell you about the time I flew accross the Channel". Great stuff, do you think any of those models are still around?
As for the date Willy you put a ? after the year 199, is this because your'e not sure if it was 199 AD or BC?

You silly sod

it was 1996. We did it two years running and Eddie Coventry or one of his pilots nearly stuffed the full size red and silver MK9 Spit nearly stalling off the top of a loop in the baking heat. He just pulled out before taking out the east car park. Fine Mk 5 Spit in the front there of course.

Forgot to say, these were the days when Willis was an Eco warrior and lived in a some sort of love shack under a hill just outside the north M25. He had a strict code of recycling, so all the models were made from previous crashed salvaged wood.

I remember going to W/W around 1988 with my daughters mother, (who was pregnant at the time with my daughter) I remember some quite big models of the time flying, which I think were JG & The Ghost Squadron, they were even flying those early jet type models, (name eludes me!) and they used to do full size helicopter rides, my daughters mother wanted to go on one and I said no as she was pregnant with my daughter. I have a some photos I took at the time, I'll scan them and post them.

The vid was from the Sheerness Show which used to be the West Malling Show until developers decided to ruin a decent flying site by building houses on the airfield. I remember the Mossie crash very well, I think it was our colleagues from Holland or Belgium who were flying it and the Thamesmead Clown display amongst others. Isn't that Al Carter looking very young at 0.57 seconds?
